Thursday? Received 944 seatbelts with hopes of putting them in the -6. Better than an ancient lap belt for driver, and nothing for passenger...

Saturday: Finally removed the halfshaft on the -6 where a bolt had sheared off in the stub axle at the end of May. Bolt extraction successful, but both CV joints are toast - balls have worn divots all over the place. With the 3.0 spinning these I'm going to have to step up to 944/951 or 911 CVs with a custom axle shaft. That's a ways off, so I repacked these for training purposes and will reinstall Sunday. (Pics and more details will go in one of my threads.)

Drove my teener to Boat Church on Lake Rabun up here in North Georgia mountains. The road has a lot of twistes and up and downs!

Boat Church is really neat. Come as you are! Only 30 minutes long. Bring your dog! My kind of church.

Yesterday I finished cleaning the rest of the parts for my new motor, starter, alternator, and heater parts. Sandblasted all the heater parts and muffler bracket.
Today it's paint the heater parts and muffler bracket, then start putting all the external parts on the new motor.

Next weekend the old motor comes out, and preparations begin for the new motor to go in. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (after the Petaluma swap, gotta drive it one more time before it's down for........)

I relocated my ECU, Ignitor, Fuel Pump Relay, and OBDII connection from the engine compartment to the firewall behind my drivers seat..

It was a dumb idea on my part to mount the electronics in the engine compartment in the first place. The recent heat wave has convinced me to relocate them for better longetivity..

finished adjusting and re-bleeding my rear calipers that i renewed. they're perfect.
changed oil yesterday, and decided it's never run any better or stronger. too bad i have to sell her!!!

I called and talked to Scotty B who tells me he expects to have my six on the rotisserie within the next week or so and then media blasted inside and out and primed by the end of August. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Took my 75 914 1.8 for a 30 mile drive today south of Minneapolis. It is the first time in 2 months I have had it out since May while I did the following;
Removed the engine, degreased, located and installed new uncut engine tin on the passenger side where the dealer installed tin was hacked up for the AC (and previously removed).
New engine bay seals-should be much cleaner in the engine bay now, with cool air coming from the top as designed versus the bottom of the engine!
New FI gaskets, intake gaskets, muffler gaskets installed.
New transmission ground strap, new plugs, air filter.
More degreasing and painting of engine tin ***tip Krylon sells a semi-gloss black grill paint that looks like factory paint and looks awesome from Ace Hardware.
Repainted the muffler in factory grey
Repainted the intake headers factory grey
Replaced 1st gear and synchros
Oil change to 40W oil, transmission oil change to 75-90W
Degreased and painted all of the heater elbows factory grey.
Degreased cleaned and painted the flapper boxes.
Reupholstered the seats in factory bone white material (PO painted the interior black, originally white!).
Removed black vinyl paint in the interior.
Sent clock to be repaired at Palo Alto speedo-awesome job.
New clutch cable and adjustment.
It was almost 90 degrees today, and the temp gauge only got to "M" in "Temp" which means the cooling tin is doing its work now!
*** It is now for sale-PM if you're interested in purchasing-I am selling to spend more time with my kids, 2 1/2 year old daughter, and 2 month old baby boy.***

Well, it was time to start the serious work today...Starting with drilling rivets out and taking apart the interior of my 1.8l 73; I am in the process of doing a full restoration and it is time to take the engine out , repair the rusted left unibody and paint prep. I unhooked the engine in the compartment to ready it's removal and totally stripped the interior only to find more rust behind the sound dampener java script:emoticon(':unsure:', 'smid_58') it is going to be a dirty rustoration. I will post pictures soon.

welded in some strenth and started welding in the outer long. Also picked a nice chunk of bondo out of the fender

Looks like someone didn't like the antenna in the drivers front fender.

I Welded mine shut. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) Then "skim" coated it. But the term "skim" is relative I guess. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Tried to remove the transmission fill plug. Muscle - no way. Impact driver - nope. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) Surrendered to (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif) and changing oil and rotating tires on wife's Pathfinder before our drive to PA this weekend.

Took it the a lapping day at The Ridge Motorsport Park in Shelton, WA!

Great track! We were able to drive six sessions (30 minutes each).

The event was put on by Ridge Racing School. I highly recommend!
