Yesterday I washed the whole engine bay down with soap and water(engine out) and then used a rag to take all the old grease off the wiring. I installed two new engine bay seals nd then set to work preparing my engine for the re-install. All thats left now is to put the engine back in today, and hook up all the vaccuum hoses!

Nice clean up job! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif)

Jealous it's going to be a while before I'm to that stage... Been working on the body and realized after sanding for a couple of days the guy I bought it off left the spark plugs out.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) who does that, now I'm going to have to tear everything down engine wise to make sure it didn't get a bunch of crap in there! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/barf.gif) . I'm a dumb ass I didn't notice the plugs were out but still who stores a car with the plugs out?

I'm glad I don't have body rot issues. I envy you guys who have the skill and patience to cut and weld cars back together.

Finished blasting and priming the tin from a 2L-6 engine today. Hope the hot weather sticks around long enough to spray a couple of good coats of semi-gloss black on them.

OK. So, quit whining and get back to work. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)

Did some assembly and painted the SBC engine for my conversion.
Wasn't feeling the Chevy Orange (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
The car and trans are silver, didn't need anymore... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)
Black is cool with aluminum heads, but just too corporate for me right now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smoke.gif)
So went with old school finned valve covers and threw some paint on everything.
Should look good hiding down in the bay... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I hope you realize that tin will not fit in a 914 engine compartment.

Got everything hooked up, start her up, aaand... a leaky fuel injector. As a bonus the leak is from the injector itself, so no cheap fix for me. anyone have a line on a good used 2.0L injector?

Put a period Becker Europa radio in--first time I've had tunes in, well, since I bought my 914 in 1995. I got the Becker from a Canadian off the Samba--fourth try at a radio, and finally got one that worked! The Becker was $80 plus $30 shipping and works like a champ.

Check the diameter of that camera head. I had one of those and the head dia. was too large to fit in a spark plug hole. I ended up buying a more expensive one that had a smaller dia. head, + it can record and upload to a PC (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

I removed both door latches. Soaked them in mineral spirits until they were clean.
A couple dabs of lube on the pivots and they are working like new.

Looks like the passenger door hadn't been touched in 39 years.

i was looking at moving the windshield wipers to the passenger side when they are in the parked position. after researching the process and looking at dozens of pictures i realized the PO had the wiper arms flip flopped (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) .... like a 71 and earlier car. after switching the arms back to the proper posts, and adjusting them to proper position, via the haynes book. i regained a ton of visibility.i dont think i will be moving the parked position after all.

details, details, details
