Are you going to start marketing these Elliott?

He's waiting for the cost analysis before announcing the group buy.
Send money now, so he can get tooled up, nice prototype though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)

The design and engineering costs have proven to be prohibitive. It looks like mine will be the only one. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)

I worked on a new umbrella cover for my car today. It took some planning and it took awhile to get it to fit just right and I'm not totally crazy about the color but it keeps the sun off. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
I love the color, Elliot (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)

No work on any cars today, but Jeremy helped me get my XT back together after painting some parts yesterday ...

Unplugged the battery charger and it started right up. Have not had any time lately to take it for a drive so it has been sitting for about a month. Took about a 20 minute drive, got a thumbs up and a "do you want to sell it" from a guy in a really nice VW bus. No thanks!

Finally, some 914 content to report.

The 'BB' had been running poorly since we replaced some jets a couple of weekends ago. When I got it home from the 'carb-tune' session at Kapt Kaos' place, found cyl# 1 was dead (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) I suspected it was a clogged idle jet or the port.

Richard stopped by the shop this AM and as we thought, it was a clogged jet.

We also fixed a nasty oil leak (right-side valve cover). Resealed the gasket, readjusted the idle mixture and took a short test drive. It's running OK, but I still need to order larger venturis and some additional main jets for further 'fine tuning'.

After 3 years or daily driving, it was finally time for new front brakes. It was more cost effective to just upgrade to 911 front struts, calipers, and rotors rather than have new 4 lug rotors drilled out to 5 lug along with new wheels bearings. Thanks to Bruce Stone for the 911 goodies. Spent this last week sandblasting, cleaning, and painting everything. I must say, the vented rotors are probably overkill for my car, but hey, who doesn't love some bling

Took the seats and backpad out of the 914-4 to scope out the seat belt retractor placement Saturday. Which was a bit of a waste, because the firewall in the 914-6 doesn't provide the extra 1.5-2" of depth for them where the later cars do. Somehow I missed that in my research... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif)

Well I wasn't thrilled with the fixed seat anyway, and hadn't expected to keep the backpad in long term, so... Lost the backpad (and the passenger seat-back) but gained a pair of 944 retracting seat belts.

Attached Image

Ironically half the reason for installing these belts was that there was nothing at all on the passenger side (and a ratty old 3" cast off web lap belt for the driver). Now it's safe for a passenger, but who wants to polish the 43 y.o. sound deadening mat with their back? I forsee bulk automotive carpet in my future...
