On Jan 1st 2023 Eric and Larry stopped by to pick up Marks car to get it sorted out with the Rabie built eng. That was in Oscars Blue car with the Frog Lights. It has been a deal to get it to this point including Mark and I putting in the eng. and suspension and that is what took out my rotator cuff a few months ago but it is on its way to Utah to PMB to build Mark a Cone killer car.

The picture doesn't capture the area. It's hard to take a decent pic when turning, shifting and enjoying a spirited drive. My wife never seems to capture "what I see". (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)

This is near Fredericksburg, TX. Hill Country driving!

LOL. I'm jealous. Fantastic area. All those apple orchards are grapevines now. One of our long time members and a past PCA instructor is looking to retire in that area & those roads are one of the attractions! Every time someone posts that TX roads are just flat & boring I chuckle to myself. Stripped my donor Subaru of its engine and complete wiring harness, then scrapped the body.

I reinstalled my engine and trans Saturday (after a full rebuild/upgrade), and now I'm working on hooking everything up.

Today, I fixed some brittle wires coming off the generator, hooked up the shifter, and ran a new clutch cable. I broke the old clevis getting it out... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) good thing I can steal one off my parts car! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Tomorrow, the plan is to hook up the clutch cable to the pedal cluster and finish working on some of the rust that I found under the gas tank. I have new fancy braided fuel lines, so I may start on those. The electrical hookups will be next (I hope I can figure out where everything goes...). Battery tray has been repainted and is ready to be bolted in and the battery placed on its throne.

I'd love the get the car back on the road within the next month. My motivation is high atm and hopefully, it will hold up.

While I do not believe a Porsche emblem should adorn the hood of a 914, if you gotta have one, that is about where it should go. Well placed. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I certainly appreciate the point of view you and others have. I have owned 7 914's over the last 45 years, i get it. However, this is not and will never be a concourse trailer queen. I know only 4 factory 914's had crests.

BTW: the factory emblem seemed a little high for me so I slid it down a bit to where the center of the badge would be where the bottom of the factory crest would have been.

Got 1 of 2 Euro turn signals from Martin Baker installed. Getting the connections back on was a PITA - must be a better trick. Also cleaned 45+ years of crud off the u-bracket that holds this in place .

Still have the side marker warts for now...one thing at a time.

I myself got a chuckle out of the response and certainly the added visuals.

I've seen a couple of cars lately that are true original cars. One a 73' basically one owner car and only 200 miles from me; the auction price eventually hit $38k though.

A high end dealer in my area recently sold two ultra low mile 1.8's for $80k,

NEVER put a crest on one of those.

But for all the other's that have: added Webers, changed wheels, upgraded the front valance with a spoiler, changed the radio, modded the car in one of hundreds of ways, or put in a 2056, etc, etc.

do you still have a problem with a crest?
