Went for a cruise after having the NOS TPS installed. Car runs perfectly!

This restoration is officially complete.

Really? I’m sure there’s something more you could find. Enjoy

Lol I say this after being 99% complete for 4 years (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif). Took her out this morning and it ran perfectly, even had the BT adapter playing great music thru the stock system.

I know it sounds strange, but everything is done and works as it should…

That said, I could use some plaid door panels (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Looks great, is this a Palma example?

Thanks. Yes Palma green… we have another that is being converted to a narrow body 6 clone, but will keep the same color.

Cheers

Very cool, we have a Palma green example original Cali car being converted to a /6. Very little rust in the HH, longs, floors all solid. Also keeping the narrow body.

Spent the last 3 days at the Texas Hill Country Rally. Drove the six all over the place down there.

Doing some stuff under the dash, I can't help but think that I'll be here for days. Really shouldn't be that long but I hate to disappoint anyone.
My build thread is just about to hit 50,000 views and I am amazed that I have generated so much interest.
I'm going to try to have the car running by 50,000 viewers, so I can post some pictures of her on her feet.
Picture of the center mirror.

Still trying to get start up.

i just wanted to start a thread to see what you guys do day to day on your cars.

i'll start,

about a month ago, i pulled my engine and trans to put in a new clutch. had the flywheel lightened and resurfaced. but what i didnt know is that i had to shim the little ball that the clutch arm rides on, after a resurfacing. so guess what i did today?

yup, pulled the trans and put an extra washer under the ball. you have to goop up both washers to get it to seal because the threaded hole goes all the way thru to the inside of the trans. i also replaced the plastic cup that the ball rides in. the throwout bearing and its little plastic blocks were fine so i buttoned every thing back up. 5 hours total. i think this has been the cheapest repair yet on my car. $2.75 for the little plastic cup.

what did you do to your 914 today?
So I’m in the last stages of a 16 yr journey of saving a very rusty 74 914. Yesterday I wrestled the 2 liter motor and transaxle into place, a very tight fit and very trying experience but is now bolted in place none the less. Today brought an unexpected frustration in the form of the Speedo cable nut on the transaxle end . Apparently I ordered a new one some months back and didn’t check the fit to my right angle drive much to my surprise the threads on the cable nut are left hand thread!!! The right angle drive is of course right hand threaded. Have you or anyone you know ever experienced this problem? Just curious. I am certain I ordered one for a 914 .
BK

Normally I take the car to the mechanic or body shop to address an issue, but today we went to my yearly physical.

PAX-side inertial reel wasn't locking, so I installed the NOS seats belts I found in my parts stash (after tightening up the retractors as described here: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...1695&st=20)

I also decided I'm going to go against my MN upbringing and quit saving stuff "for good." This is as good as it gets...

but I am going to clean up the old ones "just in case" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Wiring Gremlin.
Black with red stripe from seat belt junction to interior light.
The section of wire pictured gave up the ghost after 50 years.
No obvious failure, cracks, damage.
Replaced with new wire.
Interior light now working.
Big day!
