Pulled the wire for a CHT sensor. Fabbed and painted a DIY mount for the gauge. Plan to finish tomorrow with the install and getting the wires hooked up.

Finished CHT sensor and gauge install. It works great with temps around 310 after an hour of driving. That's right in the range from Jeff Bowlsby's CHT article.
I think removing the mouse nests from the cylinders might have helped a bit ... Mounted it with a DIY mount until I can figure out where it will live long-term. Attached image(s) |

If available in your area I'd highly recommend dry ice cleaning. I took off 52+ years of old Ziebart, etc from my '71 and the silver paint underneath looked amazing considering...

The dry ice method appears to be the easy button for sure, but being a CSOB I am trying to do it in house. Does brake cleaner cut through the old undercoating? |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) Looks great.. runs like (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif). Cylinder #5 is not firing. Changed the plug, and wire, no joy. Took the gas torch and fed acetylene into the #5 venturi on the car. The miss went away. I think I have a blocked passage in the left carb. I have to pull the top after work today and see if I can clear it out. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) Did I ever say how much I dislike carbs.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) |

Got my carburetors idle jet unclogged, new 3,1/4” trumpets, and filters, new brake pads, rotors serviced, new front bearings installed, new rear springs, and finally replaced the shift lever that broke, reviewed the valve springs sitting, some minor electrical things and some major oil leaks, and my oil temp meter works perfect now! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Oh, and installed my AN6 fittings for the Carbs Finally I drove the car today and is completely a new car. Just needs jetting now, we will find a dynamometer for that. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Now it needs a lot of cleanup underneath as you can see, the oil leak in the head gasket was severe… (IMG:style_emoticons/default/barf.gif) |
