@jhynesrockmtn Looking good!
What springs are you using with the Konis? I'm about to install the same shocks with 100# springs and was trying to figure out which of the two height settings to use. Looks like you're on the lowest setting? What's your ride height like? |

I spent 2 hours after work replacing a shift bushing and readjusting the shift linkage on Elwood.
Adjusting the shifting on a tail shifter is a bitch!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) I can see why the made the side shifter components. |

You can see that here http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...=366832&hl= I haven't gotten the car all together or on the ground at this point :-) |

put the new rear valance on the car, after doing some body work on it and repainting it. And then I realized how dirty the car was so I washed it.

Started out yesterday afternoon to bleed the rear brakes. Did calipers, rotors, MC, lines, etc months ago and pedal was still a little soft so figured it was time.
Turned into a serious case of 'while I was in here...' Bled both rears, got some bubbles, pedal seemed a little harder. Replaced brake pad retaining pins and springs with new ones. Decided I would finally install the new muffler I got from Ben/mb911 almost 2 years ago. Pulled the old one off, HE to muffler gaskets looked like they were leaking, so need to find new ones. Check the transmission plugs to make sure they will come loose, and check the oil level. All good there. While muffler was off, I noticed the heat shield looking pretty crusty. Don't think it has ever been off the car. Screws are in the rear trunk, but... It is full of '914 stuff' that I have been carting around for the past 30 years. Same with the frunk. I had picked up an old cabinet that a neighbor was throwing out about 2 months ago. Three ft wide, with drawer and 2 sliding shelves. Thinking at the time it would be a good place for the 914 stuff. It of course was sitting behind the car... So move things around in the garage, place the cabinet, and transfer stuff to it. Fewest things I've had in the 914 in a long time. Back to the heat shield. Three screws came out easily (two still covered in the putty); 2 needed a little coaxing, last one wasn't having it. Vise grips, rust dissolver, drill, nothing worked. Finally had to grind the head off. Shield came out, spent more time getting the remnant of the screw out of the speedclip. Cleaned off the loose rust and painted it with rust preventative. Staring at the open trunk lid, I noticed the spring latch also looking a little rough. Pulled it off, cleaned up some rust, took all apart and cleaned/lubed, painted the mounting plate. Back under the car, thinking the rear trans mounting bolts haven't been touched in 30+ years and I may be dropping the engine/trans this winter/next spring, so maybe I should see if the bolts will loosen. Fortunately they did without too much effort. But now I'm looking at the rubber mounts... At least 35 yrs old, if not original. Time to pick up a set at the 914Rubber sale?? That's when I called it a day. |

Mounted my alternator 5 or 6 times, maybe more, because I'm an idiot. First time through and even with videos, I screwed up the sequence of tin and engine parts during re-assembly.
Also made pizza. I'm better at that. |

Finally got the set of pistons for the 69 911s 2.0 motor going into our 6 narrow body clone.
Also picked up a rear 6 valence from a member… the shipping box is amazing. Attached thumbnail(s) Attached image(s) |

Finally got to work. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) Inboard springs are off the 72 tail shifter shifter. Short shift in also, still need to make the 1/2” spacer. Someone suggested heating up the plate to red for drilling. Then harden it afterwards. Thanks, that was the ticket. |

I wondered how much modifying I’d have to do to use an old heater lever for a hand throttle. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Boy was I surprised. Looks like the toughest part will be modifying the lever from a appearance group to the non appearance straight lever. Unless someone is adding a console and needs the offset one and wants to trade. |

Time for a suspension refresh. Koni adjustable shocks and struts, turbo tie rods, ball joints and control arm bushings.
Replacing KYBs and stock springs. New shocks and 100 lb springs installed. Hope to start on the front end soon. That will be a much bigger job... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) |

so is this only for a carb car or can you do this for stock FI d-jet car? i as because you know how when you get the heat sink effect on the CHT when restarting a car thats hot it doesnt want to idle at first , have low idle too much fuel , so having a hand throttle to hold the idle up until it balances back out , which usually takes a few minutes and you ahve to feather the pedal until it does. so i might consider this if possible. so more detailse please! i already have the extra heater lever, so i need to know how to hook it to the throttle cable. The hand throttle has a rod that goes to a small pad on the pedal assembly where the throttle rod connects. When you pull the throttle arm up it pushes the attached rod forward and that applies pressure to the throttle pad, like stepping on the gas pedal, and the engine RPM's rise. I have always used them on my FI 6's. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
