Installed new Bilstien's all around and pulled out the KYBs. (you really get what you pay for) Should make a substantial ride difference. Also replaced the rear springs with new ones from 914rubber.
My 17 year old daughter actually did all the work, while being instructed how to do things by my son-in-law and myself.
Spent pretty much all day and we had a great time!

Did you get 100 lb. or the 140/160 springs? You will be happy with the Bilstein's.

Took my NTM (New to Me) original brown door cards from another 914, along with new door cards from 914rubber (thank you Mark) to my upholsterer to transfer the vinyl to the new cards.

Was going to do it myself but couldn't find 1/8" staples so decided it would be more better to have my great pro upholstery guy do it - Pages Upholstery in Richmond, VA. Incredible work a extremely reasonable prices. RickB45 and I use him and cannot recommend him more highly.

Hope to have the brown interior installed by end of the month. The brown interior and the new Malaga Red paint will make other pop.

All I did was shop for it. I'm still about 5-6 months out from being able to purchase my next 914. The first one was sold 35 years ago and I just have to get back in this game.

I got the 100lbs springs. I put the same setup in my 74 and really like it so I'm hoping to have the same experience here with the 75.
Excited to get out and drive it. I've only put on a few miles on the car since the rebuild.

While waiting on new pushrod tube seals from AA, decided to start work on the NTM brown interior & seats......pulling out old carpet to replace too....

Replaced my pushrod seals with the McMaster Carr seals and used molykote 55. I rebuilt my 72 over the past 2 years… stem to stern… and after only 100 miles I noticed small pushrod tubes seeping oil. I always thought those o-ring seals were weak… and I really like the flat thick seals. Not cheap especially since I just installed new seals in my rebuilt
Engine. I got to spent like 5 hours on the cold concrete floor. It’s a bear but it all worked out. I’m more confident with the new seals.

Oil change tomorrow and new plugs. Then I get to install a new ignition switch and turn signal switch. Both are misbehaving.

I have a used ECU that should be here tomorrow… and I can start figuring it out.

Replaced the rear Bilsteins. 25 years old and shot. Lost a sway bar link on the test ride (bushing was shot, but I thought it would still be OK). Had my machine shop at work make replacements out of stainless. Replaced the bushings. Did drill a small hole in the back of the bushings to aid install. Great tip from the forum here.Attached Image

Tomorrow will be a tricky day, I will try to remove the rear hubs, in my garage, to send them to PMB, for a refurb and 5 lug reconfig.

Front suspension is pulled! Fought with the torsion bars and had to learn what a pickle fork is (for the tie rods) but the rest went pretty well.

Debating whether to pull the rack and do those bearings and the coupler "while I am in there".

Worked on NTM brown interior parts to prepare for installing.

Can't find new door card plastic pins I bought a year ago from AA for them......making new top mounting brackets for large section behind seat.

My build thread went over 65,000 viewers today and I started planning the fabrication of my diffuser. I try to practice the KISS system but that doesn't always work for me. Thinking about hanging it from the muffler bracket in the front and the bumper on the rear. Still no idea what's going on behind the rear tires.

Now it's winter here I took the time to refresh the back end of my 74. Removed the trailing arms and got them stripped, 2K epoxy and repainted. Ofcourse renewed the wheel bearings.
The new pivots and bushes were a pain ... the prekom rubbers are too soft so ended up ordering the 914rubber ones.
Axles were also stripped and repainted. After inspecting my cv joints I found some wear and decided to order and install the kit fm PMB

"while I was in there" I also installed new discs, pads, steel brakehoses and new hardline. Adjusted brake venting clearance. Luckily my calipers are in good conditions and adjusting was easy.

All clean and ready to go.

Next job : new upper and lower bearings in steering column to get rid of the play in the steering wheel

Just found these pictures on my cellphone. Job was done last winter but still surprised how different a clean bottom (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) can be....

I was lucky to have a car without sealing... it was all dirt, oil and it looked like it was sandblasted after nearly 50 years on the road. Cleaned, degreased, 2k epoxy on and new paint. This was done "while I was in there" (refreshed A arms with new bushings and new paint). I always start with a "little" job but usually end with a lot more ...
