Got the last of the front end reinstalled after a winter of refreshing everything. Rough set the alignment. Hope to get out for a run around the block in the am and then will line up the alignment threads and dial it in. It's been tough to not be able to drive on nice days like today ...

Looking good @CCE . I just picked up the same wheels and 5 lug kit but haven’t started the install yet.

Looks nice Ben!

Know what else looks nice...your fire extinguisher mount. Just finished putting this in along with a 5lb Purple K extinguisher. Still have my other 914 to do the same install on, but I haven't been driving that one until I can clear the lift and do the front brakes.

@fiacra

Nice, What size hardware did you use to affix the extinguisher to the mount?

My Amerex Purple K came yesterday!

@914_7T3 I see Ben already answered, but I used the cap bolts, washers, and self locking nuts he sent to fasten the mount to the seat. For the extinguisher bracket I drilled 1/4" holes and used 1/4 x 3/4 cap head bolts with lock washers to attach it to the mount. It's tight getting the Amerex fire extinguisher in, but it does fit. I had to tilt the seat one notch to get the seat to slide back without the end of the bolts that Ben supplied hitting the raised section of floor pan under the seat and preventing the seat from sliding all the way back. I thought about trying to use shorter bolts, but I don't really care if the seat sits in a slightly tilted position. If it bugs me I'll go back and see if shorter bolts will clear. I put some fabric repair tape over the bolt heads under the seat cushion to try and protect the bottom of the cushion. It's probably fine, but a little extra protection doesn't hurt.

I got my Amerex fire extinguishers delivered on Friday and found that they did not include the #818 brackets that the "specifications" tab said were included. Instead they came with a simple wall hook. I didn't want to wait so I used a bracket from a Kidde 5lb fire extinguisher and with a slight modification it seems to work fine. Hopefully Amerex sent you the correct bracket. I'm going to call them tomorrow to see if they will send the proper brackets. I assume you got the B479 fire extinguisher as well. I couldn't tell what the difference was between the B479 and the B479T.

A few years back I got lucky at an estate sale and scored these storage boxes filled with assorted hardware sets. $100 for the whole set. It's probably going to cost me more to get a refill for the Tifco boxes than I paid for the whole thing. It has really cut down on hardware store trips, including the hardware I needed to do this (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Thanks for the detailed reply. The extinguisher did indeed come with the correct bracket and the holes align perfectly with the mount.

Drove it for the first time with the refreshed front end. I have alway enjoyed this car ... and it's even better without all the rattles and bumps. The steering improvement is nothing short of remarkable!

I did some detailing and took some photos in preparation for (dare I say it?) sale. This is going to be hard after owning it for so long and I'll probably regret it but circumstances do change. I'm finding it difficult to set a final price even looking at sales on BAT.

Did a complete front alignment and drove it in the curves, on the highway and around town. Refreshed everything in the front end over winter. What a difference ... and the steering wheel is straight, too.

Very nice, good luck with the sale. Mine is staying in the family, gifting it to my grandson.
