Mistress has new shoes (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) . Yesterday replaced the Michelins which were now 17 yrs. old with Vredestein HiTrac 205x65x15R, same size as the old Michelins. They feel great on the Interstate at 85MPH so balance seems right on. But the old Michelin was too big to fit the spare tire well correctly, so had to special order a 165x80x15R Nexen for a mounted tire that fits correctly, $106 not too bad for a spare I hope to never need. That's fantastic!
What was the turn-around time from delivery to finished product?

There where some delays as there always are but, it really took 1.5 years

Eric picked up the blue car at my Plastic Shop in Jan. of last year. My Birthday party and delivery of #41 was Dec 18th 2022

I remember seeing that car at your shop - very solid for sure so i'm guessing there was very little heavy-duty body work. What a great car!

Almost finished installing a matching set of locks from @TheCabinetmaker . Thanks Curt! Just the glovebox to go and it will be done. It seems like the hardest to get to ...

It is great to have a matching set after all these years.

Sunset run last evening—almost perfect. Corn is getting taller and obscuring some intersections , and we’re seeing more deer…

Until I decide to put my 6 back on the road I thought I ought to take the weight off my 52 year old Pirelli CN 36 tires by buying some new Fuch replicas and tires.Attached Image

Drove it the furthest it's been from home since the restoration. I was very nervous but, it did great! I took it to D&E Alignment in Escondido, about 20+ miles from where I live in Valley Center. (the last place I took it to, two weeks ago, wouldn't do it) They're doing the 4 wheel alignment on it. I'm sure there will be issues but, we'll have those fixed too.
I have to say though, other than some of the bushing settling in and making a little of that kind of noise going over bumps at low speed, it drove as nice as my Alfa. Smooth and didn't rattle at all.

Took a ride the other day and met a friend out with his new Cayman. I missed the chance to get a photo of both cars together when again a stranger came up to tell me about the 914 he had years ago, and my friend had to leave.

914's seem to be a great conversation starter at gas stations... someone always wants to know where the engine is, especially if you open both trunks to get something out...

[/quoThanks Cairo, yes for inexpensive replicas they work pretty well for rollers. Freezin914 greetings, I purchased those rims from California import parts(cip1) 6x15 black centers polished petals 911 style currently priced at about130.00 each free shipping. Rim and new tire were actually 4lbs lighter than the Fuchs and a Pirelli cn 36 tire of the 70's. Polished was a little too much flash so I taped off the outer rim and sprayed the centers with Duplicolor Grahite metallic removable coating. Tires 195/65/15 nothing special $65/70 dollars each from American Tire Depot. working on pictures. Thanks Guys for the kind words.Attached Image

Cleaned a bunch of smaller engine parts for the 2.4 engine going in the '71 at some point in the near future...
Hopefully going to start building the long block later this summer with a friend with years of P car engine experience.

For a Father's Day present to myself, took Ruby on about 50 miles of the twistiest roads in a 30 mile radius of me and loved every minute. She could not be running better.

But then as she's my Daily Driver now - less miles at 70k than any car I own (wife owns hers) I drive Ruby almost every day.

See my Phase II post for new interior shots - and my new cup holders that are perfect - been searching for cup holders to go in 914 for 7 years and the perfect ones finally show up. Well worth the $70.

Pulled the 73 1.7 and 2.0 off the lift to take one to work and the other off for a nut & bolt.

I once had 3 distinct conversations at a gas station prompted by my 914. And all 3 started with "I once had one of these".
