So I did my last DE event with the green car back in November, I think. Car has been sitting in the garage since then, literally collecting dust (from a bathroom remodeling job in the basement). So today, I took her outside, washed her, filled the tank, added some Sta-Bil and took her for an hour long ride on the highway.

Continued tear down of my LE engine for a 2056 build. The engine has been sitting on my garage floor for several months. It spun #1 rod bearing back in May.
I had already removed the heads and today finally got around to removing the P/Cs and case bolts. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif)
Yes, the engine is NASTY dirty (IMG:style_emoticons/default/barf.gif)

Went through the Crutchfield catalog and ordered a stereo...OMG, how can I hide this from the wife?

It's a car. If she's like most women, she will probably never notice.
Just like we don't notice when they change their hair.

I worked it out with the UPS and FedEx guys to call me 10 minutes before they get here if it's got my name on it then we meet at the corner. Wife never knows and the delivery guys don't have to drive all the way up the driveway.

Small town living's got it's advantages.

or you could drive around town and find the ups man.....thats what i do. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

The "smiley" is kinda low res bus she look nice. So I guess you better notice when she cuts her hair!

Here is a picture of us on a cruise in 2009.

And here is HER 914.

Attached Image

That is the first 914 I ever saw, ever rode in, ever drove, and ever fixed. And after 26 years, and 335,000 miles, all three of us are still together. I would not trade her for anything. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) Along the way, I got my 914, but this will be forever HER car, and I will do anything to keep it running for her.

Some times I think she just married me to get free 914 repairs. But then I remember she did the work herself for a LONG time.

Hey Clay, is it my imagination, or is Betty a little taller than you? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)

I have to wrench on my wife's cars, but she does purchase most of the parts she needs, bless her heart (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I pulled the drivetrain off my wrecked parts car. Motor is sold as are the carbs. Now just need to sell the HE & Exhaust. Then I start pulling the interior. Has some nice parts so I am sure glad my buddy thought of me when he wrecked it.

Yes she is taller than I am. But it doesn't bother her at all. Frankly it doesn't bother me either. Except when she backs the seat in the car up and I can't reach the pedals.

And I had a girlfriend in high school that was over 6 ft. She was a point guard on the basketball team. Last I heard she married some guy who is shorter than I am.

QUOTE(warpig @ Feb 3 2012, 09:48 PM) *

Well the other day I changed the oil and put in new plugs etc., and early this am started off on my trip to Portland OR. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) I am currently sitting in a hotel room with a cocktail in Woodland CA (north of Sac) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif) and mentally flipping off my friends that thought it was a bad idea to load up my clothes in my 37 year old sports car and go to the great rainy ass north at the start of February ( with the top off no less). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sheeplove.gif) Tomorrow in the am going to Shasta and points north. So far so good.

Well I made to Portland from San Diego. 3 days and 1070 miles 29.4 miles per gallon up I5. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) The car ran fantastic the whole way. I sure am glad no one had the sense to buy it before I left, I really didn't have my heart in selling it anyway (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) So now I get to spend all those rainy weekends stuffing it full of 911 components and horsepower instead of crying over selling my baby. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) Here are some pics from along the way, and yes, heater on and top off the whole way!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bootyshake.gif) Not bad for the first week of February. God I love Global Warming!!

Ouch, Stockton... I woke up drunk there once....since I lived in Sacramento, it wasn't too far away..

Tidy up the garage
start grinding the extra weld off the long re enforcement and put some primer on it.
Prep for Lizard skin and door fitment.

I finally hooked up a battery. First time since I transferred the whole wiring harness from a donor car into mine.

After installing a new fuse panel from engman, and after getting Al Garcia to install LED lights.

All my lights work, except that passenger rear brake light stays on. And ya, I have a blown fuse. Its the wiper switch
