I installed my front trunk rubber seal. No biggie but it's something my car has not seen in 15 years. Kind of a milestone for me 'cause it means I'm getting close to end of a 20 year project.

None of the FLAPS had any cup holders that I liked, so I scrounged up some 1/8" paneling and some doweling to see what I could come up with.

After construction and a couple of coats of stain, mounted it to the center arm rest.

There's a bunch of paneling left over, maybe I'll make a new dash face and center console inserts (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)


The mail man delivered a Tangerine firewall shifter bearing today. If I can get the bearing and replacement rear brake lines installed, Richard can come by to stuff the drive-train in (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)


I'd like to thank Doug for starting this thread (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) Seeing what a lot of you guys are doing has motivated me to work on my car, and have accomplished quite a bit recently. Still a ways to go, but making fairly good progress.

Pulled my gauges and sent them to ALs914 for a lighting upgrade.

Pulling wood dash to be the template for my new brushed aluminum one.

Trying to decide to stay camel color interior (cheapest option), or to change it up. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)


I think Camel color looks good with Arena Red paint,but carpet stains easy.

You're changing out the wood for brushed aluminum, eh? What are you planning to do with the wood dash?

Looks like a pretty close match to my cup holder (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Can I get you to make two templates so I can cut my paneling prior to tearing out my dash?

I removed my pedal assembly for new brass bushings and I'm trying to remove the roll pin. I've soaked it in PBblaster, heated it up and have been beating on it... nothing! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Bob, do you have an air hammer and a pointed bit?

I've build a lot of those and that worked 100% of the time. It only goes so far but you can then easily finish it off with a proper punch.

Yea, the dash is pretty nice but it's not the look I am going for with my new interior.

Plan to use it for a template, then get rid of it. You want it?

I did this yesterday first time i have driven my 914
i started the engine for the first time last weekend. this is so fun i have had this 914 for 10 years and finally i can se the end at the tunnel (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

My car was checked into the shop a few days ago for some elective work..the suspension is toast and time for a complete overhaul. Finally I got to get some of the parts installed. This weekend we redid the entire rear end with brand new yellow sport Koni shocks, the adjustable perch kit from Tarret Engineering along with their 150 pound spring kit. It sure looks pretty. In the next few days we are going to pull out the front tank to correctly install the front GPR bar and while at it do the Tangerine Racing steering coupler made out of Delrin along with the entire front suspension and new turbo tie rods (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I can't wait to drive it again

Nope, I don't. Air tools are just a dream right now. I bent my new HF punch, pounding on it.
I guess I'll find a mechanic around my office, I'll bring the whole thing in. Should only take them a minute or so.

I charged the battery, started the Ghost, let it heat up and then shut it down. It was a powerful amount of work that made me sweat, so I had to have lunch and sit down for a while. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smoke.gif)

Sure, Matt. My wife really would like a wood dash in her '71. When you're done with it, I can use it for a template as well.

Since both of our cars are 'street cars' (when they actually run), a little extra weight is acceptable.

I'd like to get Al to do my gauges in the near future as well ... they're sweet

Bob, keep applying PB, it will eventually loosen it up.

Bruce Stone gave me a old (damaged) 6mm 12-point driver that he ground-down to the diameter needed to remove roll pins. If you can't find a suitable drift, and have access to a grinder, make one of these. (other items shown for comparative size reference only)

I removed the A/C dryer from the wheel well, all associated hoses and wiring, wire-brushed and scrubbed the front trunk, applied rust mort where needed and made a template for a repair panel to cover the hole where the condenser used to be.

Also installed Craig's (Camp914) euro front parking light kits and an old set of Pilot fog lights that were laying around.

I envy you guys who have the time and inclination to tear your cars totally apart and start over from scratch (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Painted my silver 'summer' targa top sand beige to match the 'new' interior. With the car being black and having a silver top, I got tired of people asking if I was a Raiders fan ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

The silver definitely kept the interior cooler when I had the black upholstery though.

This probably doesn't count....but I washed my windshield of "garage dust" and drove it to Santa Cruz (from Pacifica) had a nice visit with my brother and sister in law and Lyn and I stopped at Duarte's in Pescadero on the way back for some food...a great place by the way...and motored home in time to get the car in while the weather was still relatively warm and still dry....several thumbs up from other cars including some crazy sob in a new "911" who looked us over for a while and then passed a warp4 while waving and flashing his lights...those fuckers are fast....don't make much noise tho...a nearly perfect day....by the way, I did technically "work" on the car...you know, washing the window and all....

I put on some sound deadening on the firewall inside before putting the backpad back on. I also started to put some of the new carpet kit in the LE. I dropped off a ton of parts for powder coating this morning. Really only needed a pair of seat mounts/rails for the LE. I threw in an extra pair of those along with a full set of 2.0 engine tin, some heater parts & a set of intakes for a 2.0 with the plenum too. Guy has been really reasonable in the past. Hoping I don't show up next week to pick them up & a enormous bill (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) . I don't need most of the stuff. Just made sense to take more up there as he is an hour away from me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
