Found that one of my lug nuts had fallen off of the driver side front wheel, and left it's threads in the stud... Most if not all the other lug nuts are at least 20 years old, and have super nasty threads, almost to a dangerous level. New set of 20 nuts on order... Those will get installed immediately.

yesterday i powerwashed off my engine cases and lost the little pins that hold the crank bearings from spinning. This morning I found them suspiciously easy in the driveway. So this evening i started reassembling it and its going very well so far (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I finally got around to fixing an exhaust leak. I lost one exhaust stud and was about to lose another. I had to drill and tap for a 8/10mm step studs and it turned out to be easier than expected. I'm back in business. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Found an AAR in a box so swapped it for the non-working one (stuck open so had it bypassed).
So far, the "new" one seems to be working correctly (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

I've always been bothered about my driver-side headlight flopping around and making a scraping noise when going up and down, so I took the assembly apart.

There was an abnormal gap in between the inner and outer pivots and rotating support bar. A PO kluged together this nifty home-made outer pivot instead of obtaining an OEM part. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif)

Now, while I truly appreciate one's resourcefulness, this was clearly not an acceptable fix (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif) ... The correct pivot has since been installed.

Took the passenger-side assembly apart as well. Cleaned up, painted the inside headlight wells, and before reassembling everything, sanded and painted the headlight surrounds with a textured paint, as they were looking pretty shabby.

On the way back from shopping in York Pa. I took a side trip to find out where TRANSLOG (www.transloggt.com) is at in York and found them. They were working today so I met Tony Miller and he gave me a tour of the shop. Now I'm set up with a good Porsche Independent Shop and will be taking my teener to them to inspect and advise what they think it might need to have done. Right now it's running and handling great but never having owned one until I bought mine in September I'd like to know if it's needing anything. When we were leaving Tony asked if I would like to come to a Tech Session on 914's that they are having there next Saturday morning.....Hell yeh! So looking forward tofurther my education about the 914's.

LSD clutch inspection since I was in there anyway. Matt at Guard told me the specs and after 1.5 years on the road and all is well. Finding out I don't need to rebuild the clutch-pak is just plain fine with me.

Finally got the front suspension all put together (1974 911)
The front tires (215x40x17 Yokohama S drives) and wheels (2002 Boxster 7") mounted on 50mm spacers.

Had the rear control arms sandblasted and POR'ed. New bushings, bearings, and beautiful refurbished shafts from Eric (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

The rear shafts were rusted almost to failure-

One of the rear control arm bracket bolts snapped while removing and after everything failed to remove it I installed a Tangerine Racing weld in bung!!!
Nice piece!

Drill out old with a 7/8" hole saw (top) and 1 1/4" hole saw (bottom)

Prep area, bolt new bung to bracket then bolt bracket to car to orient in proper position, then weld in. What a pain... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

Finally, found some rust/cracking occurring on the inside of the control arm mounting ear so had to grind it, weld it and paint it.

Pulled off the passenger side rocker cover for the first time in the year that I've owned it. ( Mostly because I was afraid to know) I was pleasantly suprised by the lack of rust or rot. sanded and cut a small bit of rot out then welded in a patch then added some paint. Added a light refresher coat to the cover and will put it work on the other side next chance I get. Will probably use screws instead of rivets to reinstall because I want easy access to clean and inspect. I know there is and was rust here but the po has creatively hidden most of it well and that's fine by me for the up coming season. Still need to freshen up the dash with a new head unit and speaker pods. New carpet (black) refinish my non sunroof top, finally get the turbo cup wheels mounted once the custom adaptors come in. Get some spare parts like the extra set of weber 40 idfs sold sell off the never used empi 8 spokes with new tires plus a few extras. grrrr so much to still do with little time and little extra money at the moment.

I haven't chimed in here for a long time till today on another post asking about installing the 911 SC hubs, brakes and shocks so this seems like a good thread to say hello. I had a little "off road" experience with my car last summer so it's been sitting as pictured for the last 8 months or so. First accident I ever had in that car in the 19 years I've owned it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Seemed like not only a good time to repair the damage but to do some upgrades and maint. while it's apart. So today I spent a couple of hours grinding out all the fractures and stress cracks in the fiberglass and gellcoat with a Dremel. The Sheridan body shattered into 4 pieces and broke in a couple more. I pieced it all back together with epoxy and once all in place started laying new glass on the backside so I could resurface the front. It's going back together pretty well all things considered. hope to have it all back together and down to the shop for paint this Spring. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Decided to cure my window rattle when rolled down half way. Installed a felt inside the front track with a little glue. Well it totally f'd up the window travel. Go figure, so now it has to come out. F me.
