Ditched one at a friends, ready to ditch another and drove the crap out of another and dreamed about two other 914's. Gotta sell a 911 and a 76 914.
Must locate keys to another???

what did you do to your 914 today

Drove to the OC in Sonoma to install my Boxster calipers only to find out that my rear rotors are too wide.
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

Well, looks like that some creative machining of the rear calipers and slightly shaved brake pads might do the trick. Oh well ...

On the upside, i got to drive my 914!

Spent 4 hours undoing my brave but misguided attempt to stop a window rattle, by unwillingly learning to completely disassemble the window assembly and pull the window. I removed the window felt I installed in the front track, which dislocated the narrow track the window rides in. But I didn't know that at first,or second. So finally discovered the track sitting at the bottom, reseated it and bam, it worked. Next had to clean the glue and gunk out of main window track. Up and down takes a bit more effort but the window is where it is supposed to be and seats well against the car. And the unexpected surprise, the rattle is gone. Hope lithium grease was the correct lube because it will be a long time until I tear into it again. Was amazed that the window merely press fits into the sliding track, thought it needed to be glued or something.

Engine rebuilds, suspension swaps, new paint ... all great, but there IS a feeling of accomplishment and joy that comes with fixing the little things too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif)

Got my gearstack back from Dr. Evil and reassembled my trans. Degreased case, replaced all seals, painted it and made it look purdy! I used a very light coat of hi-temp aluminum paint. Just enough to change the color.

Next up, finish putting the engine together. Already a long block, just need the fuel injection and tins repainted and installed. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Sewed on a leather cover for the steering wheel - pain in the but but better than the dry rotted rubber.

Didn't feel like working this morning so started fabricating my aluminum dash using the wood dash as a template. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif)

Here is the glove box piece:

I think I am going to clear anodize.

I drove that rusty old bitch to work, then to the gym afterwards, then toyed with a Mustang GT before leaving his gutless ass in the traffic. Went to the local go-kart track for a time attack event and learned two things:
1. front brakes NEED to be rebuilt badly
2. Pretty boys with m3's hate getting there asses handed to them in by a 40 year old car..
