Did the front brakes caliper rebuild, bearings and rotors on blackie using Eric's break in method. OMG, what a difference. Now I know why the white 914's brakes are enemic. They weren't broken in properly. Thx Eric. And my wife thx McMark for the long tube post. The last time I had her pump the brakes, we figured out that she was pumping the clutch pedal. That is why you should never let a woman near a car with a "Man Pedal"

I've been just itching to post something to this thread. So, today I brought home a friend for Austin. Meet Rosie! Picked her up from mepstein today. I'm sure they will be the best of friends. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving-girl.gif)
Thanks Mark, I'll take good care of her! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif) I think there may actually be something to this addiction thing. You can't have just one.

Rosie looks like a low rider. Does she have adjustable perches in the rear?

Is she solid? By the way I like the EMPI eight spoke's on her sibling! Congrats on the new girl!

Continuing work on the old 'BB'. Yesterday morning, I vacuumed out the tunnel and treated it with Eastwood's Internal Frame-Coating, boxed up a set of SS heat exchangers for Mr Bontempi and dropped them off at FedEx. Installed the shift lever and attached the shift rods in the late afternoon. That's it, not a real productive day (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Richard stopped by this morning, 'fine-tuned' the shift linkage and installed the passenger side HE. Stopped there, as additional hardware was required to get the driver side installed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

So, we started putting the CSP bell-crank throttle linkage together. Ran into a snag there too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) ... need to rummage through my box of spare IDF parts tonight.

So, Richard reworked and lubed the driver side seat rails, and I repainted my faded Vitaloni Baby Tornados flat-black (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Closed up shop early, went to the hardware store and then home (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

...

The End (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bootyshake.gif)

I glued in the vinyl pieces that sit on the rails in front of & below the seat. Also on the side of the center tunnel. Waiting for the glue to dry & going back out to finish the carpet tonight. Hopefully I will get my backpad pieced back together & installed

No adjustable perches, I think it's just the angle of the photo. Don't get me wrong she will need some TLC. I won't really know how much 'till I get her up on the lift. But I ain't skeerd, yet! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Replaced my 39 year old heat exchangers and muffler. Got a good set of stainless steel exchangers off Ebay and an almost new Bursch muffler from a fellow teener on 914World!

Found out that the Porsche 928 and the 914 share mounting bolt spacing for the rear license plate mount! The plus is that the 928 part, while not original to the 914, allows you to use metric security screws (Yes, I have had personalized plates stolen off a car!) to mount your license plate to the threaded bracket, eliminating the cumbersome nut and screw normally required. Also found a factory leather wheel underneath a vintage "500 Sport Grip" perforated cover installed years ago by the previous owner. After 40+ years, it's going to the factory for restoration! Will probably cost me more than the car did...

Today, I made some additional repairs to a stock back pad, reinstalled the gas tank and some of the interior pieces.

Richard installed the driver side heat exchanger and all the heater ducting.

Attached Image

Later in the day, I fitted some additional carpet in the front trunk to cover up the gas tank ...

... also installed the muffler bracket and Triad (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ... and my back aches (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I guess I'd better start straightening out the rear valance ...

Installed starter, double check all connectors, ready to install the motor in the morning if the rain stops.

My garage is small and I have to roll the car out, take the engine out of the garage, them roll the car back in for jack stand and installation.

Half way through installing euro H4 lenses, 80/100 bulbs, upgraded wiring, relays and fuse. I don't know why I enjoy wiring so much, must be loco in la cabesa.

Started it up and backed it out of the garage. Let it idle for 20 minutes. That was my break from my kitchen remodel. This is the price I pay to keep the wife happy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
