Lost my passenger side rocker panel this evening (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

On the way back from Havasu, detoured to Cerritos to pick up my nephew. It started raining really hard a few seconds after putting his bags in the trunk. About 10 minutes later, just after we got past the top of the freeway on-ramp we hit a large pool of water that shook the hell out of us (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) ... believe that's where it happened (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Guess I need to start looking for a replacement ABS rocker (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif)

I have the same lift and wondered how to use it for a engine removal and install. Are the 4x4 braced between each other I'd worry about them rolling off the straps.

Off to home depot to get some 4x4s

First - I never get under a car without jackstands or 4x4's under the frame.
I had already disconnected everything so no reason to be under the car when making the lift.
Yes- I connected the two 4x4's so they didn't roll, however if they were to roll the straps would catch the car IMHO but the sides would be caved in- the 4x4's space the straps away from the car.
Used 27' straps can't remember the rating -8000lbs each I think. Made sure I used strong enough straps. I secured the straps to the 4x4's - I just used tie-wraps at each end.
Other potential issues- the rear end breaks off account the longs are rusted out. Or the car is not balanced correctly.
I went slow and checked the engine every couple of inches. Used a coat hanger to position cables out of the way.
Stayed clear of the car and made sure everyone else was clear. And once the motor was out got it back on the ground.
All this crap can be replaced...you can't replace a life. Therefore I don't advise anyone to do this.

Been dealing with a failing fuel pump for a while... as it heats up, loses pressure. Finally located my "spare" fuel pump and swapped it for the failing pump. Put power to it and found out it leaked. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
Took it off, opened both pumps and compared parts. Of the four O rings, two were flattened while two were more round. Installed the latter two in the spare pump and put it all back together and on the car. Still leaking spraying but this time I see it is from the main body and not the upper section. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)
Remove the spare pump once again and put the good seals on the original pump. Hey, at least it worked for 20 or so miles before losing pressure (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
This morning drove 40 miles and... pump seems to be working OK now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)
Guess I better start saving for a new pump since this one is bound to fail again at some point.

Perhaps it is time for considering a fuel system overhaul? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

I was in the same position and with the occasional vapor locking issue to boot (74 w/ rear fuel pump.) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

I did a relocation to front with parts from a 75' then the SS fuel line tunnel and engine bay kit as well as all new rubber hoses. Best investment made thus far in terms of reliability! Highly recommended. Yesterday I put in a new starter/ignition harness, added the ballast resistor to the cht, drove to work today! Still might replace the rear relay board but seems to be running good.

Coming home from Route 66, I went through some rain in Tehachapi that was so strong, I saw animals walking two by two. I'm talkin' BIBLICAL! I ingested so much water into the engine I washed off all the oil from my K&N air filters. I pulled the dipstick out when I got home and found a little water at the end of the stick. (Maybe I should have kept the rain tray)? So, I cleaned and re-oiled the air filters and changed the oil and filter. I was going to stop and spend the night there but it was forcast to snow and I have never driven the 914 in the snow.
