Hmmm...say the roof were to be made flat and then we would have the window issue. Could we address the issue by modding or adding a shim bracket onto the window regulator to raise the final position of the window in it's closed position?

Cool project.
I like the bus sliding top idea for simplicity and stability. Have fun with it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) |

T.C., as long as I have been reading these threads, I can't believe " the stuff in your garage". drool, drool. Al. BTW, I'm glad you love 914's.
Always like the unusual, weather shortened or lengthened. Now I've had awful thoughts, putting a 914 front on my bus, sectioning it to the right height, you are really expanding our horizons. Andy, Mark and Rob, you guys are going to make us proud, can't wait. |

Sweet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
Anyone familiar with the work at Original Customs will know this project will be a great blend of VW/Porsche factory and custom touches. Clean and with purpose. I hope to see OEM Porsche wheels on it, and I hope some fun work-parties are opened to give locals (and those with lots of spare time) and chance to get their wrench or sanding block on it to be part of history. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) T.C., that is an amazing engine, it would be in my living room, not garage (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) |

3-Day Weekend? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) I'll be at the shop tomorrow. We're going to do more cutting and fine tuning. Basically, the idea is to have her ready to be welded by the end of the day tomorrow ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) Andy |

You've probably already thought about adding a strong hitch..... How about hauling a combination bbq trailer / cooler to games or 914 events to tailgate. Maybe you can find the back end of a 914 and make a combination trailer/bbq/cooler out of that. |

Today was a good day. We got to the point where we have the longs lined up correctly. The fitment is surprisingly good. We weren't sure at first how well the two parts would mate together, but even the fenders will blend together nicely.
Everything lines up just right! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) Cutting out the front bulkhead: ![]() ![]() ![]() |
