Schedule another limo work-party (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Funny you mention that ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

We talked about doing another work party. There's a lot of grunt work that needs to be done before we can start making her look nice.

This would probably be more of a scrub and clean party ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif)

Your idea of coach lights reminded me of a traumatic expierience of many years ago. I once saw a 50's/60's vintage Rolls Royce, (possibly a Silver Wraith) in black with a white padded vinyl top and Landau irons.

Sorry for the delay. The limo work day on Sunday wore me out enough to let me get sick. So I've been sleeping the last few days away with a cold.

Our first task on Sunday was to strengthen the rear 'window frame' section so that should any passenger try and grab onto that area, it's less likely to bend something. By adding in these triangulation pieces, we got it surprisingly rigid. I was worried we weren't going to get it strong enough, but now I'm more than pleased with how it turned out.

Attached Image

We added an strengthening beam between to two sail panel sections to help tie them together as well as added another weld seam at the joint between the two sections. This area isn't going to see a lot of stresses, so super strength isn't important.

Attached Image

And finally we 'skinned' one side of the mid panel. It looks really odd this way, but once we fill in the fender gaps and add on the roofing section, it'll look better. This is where the limo lights will go.

After Sunday's work day we decided to stop work on the aesthetic portion of the project, and refocus on the functionality portion. So next weekend we will be doing a lot of measuring and planning to get closer to having a proven running car. I've already called Terry cable and confirmed that we can have custom length cables produced for the throttle and clutch cables. We plan on getting the suspension and brakes all cleaned up, powder coated and prettied up. We plan on cleaning painting and undercoating the wheel wells while the suspension is off, that way we can tape those areas off when we paint and still leave the braking system intact. I'd like to bleed it once, and then leave it alone for good. After next weekend we'll have a better idea of what we can accomplish on a work weekend, but as mentioned it will probably consist of cleaning the rear fender wells, engine bay, and under the rear trunk to prepare those sections for finishing. As well as pulling the motor and transmission and stripping all the rest of the trim and parts off of our parts car

Black is boring. So is white. Every damn Limo on the planet is black or white. We need something different ...
