I just finished Ollie's Bday present. A one of a kind Matchbox Dad's car. He was very pleased. Here's how it turned out. Later he wants ribs for dinner and Bender Beers. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/birthday3.gif)

Start of rant . - - -

To all of those who have gone out to Target , WalMart , or whatever Mart , once or several times and have bought out the whole stock of Matchbox 914's and bragged about it here on this site . A BIG THANKS to all of you for your hoarding up all of the 914's . And to those who are selling them on EvilBay or whatever for a 200% to 300% or more profit , again another Big Thanks . Heck , even Automobile Atlanta has sent out emails to its customers with an add of Matchbox 914's for sale at $3.00 a piece .

Of course some areas of the country are more blessed than others to get the Matchbox 914's but here in ElvisLand (MEM) I have been searching since they came out at Target , WalMart and others but no luck finding any . It seems that some people even here are buying up all they can get in their little grubby hands for their own collectin or for selling later at a higher price .

What ever happened to leaving a few for some other person while you get a few for yourself ? Is it capitalsism , hoarding , profiteering , or just plain old greed why people are doing this ? The answer is a big yes to all 4 of them .

I've just about given up on ever finding any of them , all I want is 2 of them , and I refuse to buy any from a person or some shop in Atlanta that is selling them for 3 times as much or more than they were originally bought for . Individuals who price gouge or profiteer in any way for any product deserve what they get . Buying a few for resale later at a small profit later while leaving some for others is one thing . But buying up all of them for a price gouging profit later is just being too darn greedy . Of course that's the way society is going these days . Price gouge/profiteer thy neighbors before they price gouge/profiteer thee must be the societal mantra .

When I bought several years ago the large scale die cast model by Monogram/Revell of the 914 at a local hobby shop . There were 3 on the shelf but I picked up one figuring leave the others there for some other 914 hobbyist . Within a week they were gone but of course EvilBay had several listed for a much higher price .

My rant is over .

I'll pay you for what you bought 2 of them that's only fair .

Also , as to the whining statement , I was only making a statement on how things seem to appear . I had a short rant on it like other Club members have had rants on similar or other situations , that's all .

Xanax! Stat!

Dude, I could not find any here for a while. When I did, that was it. A few very generous members here sent me a few, some even unsolicited. We are not the ones marketing them for profit. I just GAVE two away to a fellow teener because he didnt have any and I scored 4. Ask before you assume that we are all price gouging, capitalist pigs (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

BTW: I heard that there are a gaggle of 50 something year old men that gather at the door to TRU every morning and wait for the doors to open only to elbow each other in a race to the Hotwheels and Matchbox section. They are the people you should be aiming your vitriol at, not us.

Dude, I've been at Walmart when it's happened! They are crazy. I even watched (in amazment) two of them physically assault eachother over a "treasure Hunt" Hotwheel. It was quite entertaining to watch the old guys push and pull eachother over the damn thing. They first stood there hovering over the pallet watching the kid unload them onto the pegs. Unbelievable!

It's my understanding that there isn't a unique bar code / SKU on each package, so they can't actually track how many of a particular model they've sold vs. other models - although they could maybe see which "batch" is selling fastest.

Dr. Evil , . . .

I did not accuse or assume in my letter that all members here are price gouging capitalists pigs . I stated that in my letter . I also did not name anyone so as not to insult or falsely accuse any particular member .

With some of the many postings by members in the past and the words that have been used against unanmed people or against a particular person in what could be truely called vitriolic fashion such as the one related to the 914Club.com for sale issue . My short rant was rather mild by comparison . So to castigate what I did say " . . They are the people you should be aiming your vitriol at , not us . . . ." was not really called for . At least I did not direct my short rant to any particular person or persons .

There are a lot of good dudes and dudettes at this 914world site and there are a few , shall we say butt heads too . Everyone has an opinion just like every one has a belly button .

This is a dman good website and we are all entitled to exercise our Constitutional Rights of freedon of speech . I had my say and you had your say and that's cool too . This is a free country the last time I heard about it .

I have seen some go cheap on ebay now for 99cents, I found a bunch of them while I was checking out the winter olympics in Vancouver, Canada at Walmart for 1,33 Canadian and bought 3 for myself and left a couple there for you or the next person. They are even selling them here in Japan now on the Yahoo auctions going for around 4 dollars now....I guess I just lucked out with my find, it was the first store I checked. I have one spare I will use as trade bait for something now or later on down the road. Cheers
