Thanks Jim, but I got one of the yellow ones now, and I even opened one of the purple ones that I got. I hit the motherlode for 914s on Sunday, taking home 11 in one day from 3 Walmarts. It's a disease, I tell ya...

The wall is actually thrush brown and trimmed in mission beige.

Touché (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Donald - I do have my Thrush Brown '74 for sale if you are interested........

(DISCLAIMER: The car is red, no really it is red (quartz lights shifted the color - and it is not for sale)

I have been to your house and I don't remember seeing that in your garage. Are you sure you didn't go to Rick Olla's house by mistake after a few too many at happy hour? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

K, found a bunch of those Shelby's at Toys R Us. Think I have 7 or so different ones. Very nice models. Each one comes in a variety of colors from what I could tell. Still looking for the 246 Dino that Hotwheels came out with.

here are my different variations of the Matchbox Porsche 914 scale modells

they're all different - not only the colour variations, but also the boxes

the bigger boxes say: "16 of 100"
the smaller boxes say: "16 / 75"

the bigger boxes have a grey stripe on the lower right hand
the smaller boxes have a lila stripe on the lower right hand

the older versions say "PORSCHE 914"
the newer versions say "71 PORSCHE 914"

Attached Image

are there any other different versions that I don't have?

let me know (IMG:style_emoticons/default/boldblue.gif)

oh ... I forgot (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

I already know that there is #2 in this picture:

it's a big box with lila stripe on the lower left hand side and says "16 / 100" and "PORSCHE 914":

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads/post-2212-1278431552.jpg)

does anybody have a spare one - I'd like to trade or buy one (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

You know what I find particularly amusing... that IT"S NOT A 1971 914! Just glancing inside the model shows that the passenger seat is not fixed and is it's own seperate bucket (vs the combo seat/backpad!) which makes this model a 1972! Muwahahaha I am correct. Hahaha!

Funny thing is, they *added* that error because previous runs did not identify the year.

match box is kind of like the post office. they make all these variation so collectors buy more, got to have one of each. much like the post office makes a whole bunch of special stamps knowing collectors willbuy them to collect them all (rather than use them as postage)
I suspect we will see more special colors forth coming, and a few more box variations
