Could it be? Some time ago there was a question about carb cleaners from someone who couldn't find Berrymans. I haven't tried this myself, but I'm impressed. These are photos from a thread on an adventure motorcycle site. Motorcycles spend their winters in the garage along with lawn equipment, so they have almost annual problems with gummed carburetors. After some years of crap on top of crap they add up to be pretty big problems. So some of those guys are soaking their carburetors in Pine Sol, either straight or dilluted 2-1 with water, and getting this:
Before: (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/klrworld.com-2618-1278772762.1.JPG) After: (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/klrworld.com-2618-1278772763.2.JPG) Closer: (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/klrworld.com-2618-1278772764.3.JPG) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/klrworld.com-2618-1278772765.4.JPG) From the photos I wouldn't be able to tell you that wasn't done in a real tank. What's especially impressive is that it's not supposed to damage rubber or plastic parts, which is astounding to me. The whole thread is here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=560117 I repeat I haven't tried this myself, but I'm going to, Real Soon Now. . |

wow... that's really impressive. While I've got a whole bunch of other stuff to work on my car before I pull of my carbs, I've got an old weber progressive sitting on the shelf that I might just try this out with just to see what kind of results I can actually get. The guy in that thread said that he let it sit overnight and got those results.

and after just watching Dr. Evil's transmission rebuild video... wonder if this would work to clean the heck out of a transmission case. I've got a spare one of those too..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Also works quite well for cleaning your concrete where that oil dripped out.

Castoroil ? spellling on that one.. cuts grease well too. Have no clue how good it is for car applications though other than cleaning wheels. For a surgery I had to drink 1-1/2 oz. of caster oil, sure cleans you out. You know the little crack between the seat and the bowl...shit sprayed out with force of 3000 PSI. Half way though may my total evacuation of all bodily fluids I puked up any fluids left (plus half my colon) and in mid puke, what was left of that nasty crap reached out, grabbed that puke (and half colon) and slammed it down my throat and out my asshole..... Should work good on carbs. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) |

Mark,
I am laughing so hard I can hardly type this! That was some description! Made me lose track of the pine sol information! Better than a lot of fart jokes in movies. TMI? Yes, but hilarious! Seriously though, I have been there getting prepped for surgery once. 1992. Worst thing I have ever experienced. Hurt for a year. John avidfanjpl |

The best part is it was in Vancouver during Expo '86.....I got to see Chuck and Di then it was up-chuck and die.
About a year later I had to have the same procedure, different hospitial, when I told the doctor/nurses the story they were all like WTF would they do that for??..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) Evil laughed his ass off when I told him the story...prick. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Ha,Ha, Mark,
That is too funny. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I had to drink a half gallon of "go lightly". Yea right, going lightly was definitely the wrong name! Think I lost 10 lbs. Tom |
