The 914/6 "rust"oration process has officially begun. I sure hope I can get out for less than $10k. Plan on some stupid CW type questions in the near future. I love pics BTW. I have some nice /4 parts to sell off to help offset the cost of this project.

Motor/tranny have been removed (many thanks to Brant, Scott, Mike and Jon for the assistance). The interior will be gutted this week. I need to remove little stuff like the fuel pump, lines, drain the tank, you get the idea. Then I get to start cutting up the parts car and stripping paint off panels to avoid spending $45/hour for body shop labor.

As Rich says, "onward..."

I do that every morning....Angie saw me do it last week and was making fun of me for hours. "Did you kiss it goodbye?"

Your car looks awesome man....simply awesome. Looking at your finish, I wish I'd had better body skills when I was working on mine.

Mine was done professionally. You don't have any reason to feel bad about your work. You did a great job. In fact after seeing the progress of some members own work lately, I'm kinda inspired to try it myself also. Somebody had a roller for sale... I'll be paying someone to prep my next tub. So it looks like we'll be trading places. This is one of those things I wanted to do ONCE. I don't mind the other stuff...putting back together is the fun part for me. But Body work and painting is NOT my strong-suit.

Really nice to see this coming together for you.

Too bad we don't have some pics of it leaving Napa last year in pieces on the flat bed.

You're almost there.

Mine goes to paint this week.

Mike,

I think your roller might be the most beautiful chassis I've ever seen. I can't wait to see it finished!

Mike, please don't mount anything to it...it looks to pristine as it is. Anything added would simply be a distraction...

One thing I'm reasonably certain of is that this 914 is rust free. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) For now anyway... I'm sure it'll start very soon. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif)

We haven't seen the sun around here for almost a week (seems that way anyway). When I picked the tub up it was cloudy and crappy. When I unloaded it from the trailer it was gloomy and snowing lightly off and on.

Working last night and late work tonight afforded me an opportunity to leave work this afternoon and come home. I wanted to see this tub in the sun so badly that I inched it out of the garage and down my sloped driveway by myself.

First time in the SUN!
