I just installed the taco plate, what an improvement over the old style taco plate, haven't installed the tuna can yet. Taco plate is great (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

I really like mine. When I ordered mine, it was before anyone else here really knew about them and the group buy had not started yet.

Thanks Guys, really appreciate your feedback here (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

If you are still interested in ordering one, you can contact him directly at boatyardbuses@aol.com.

His handle here is jonesy, but for the life of my I can't remember his real name. Gotta ship it from the UK, but well worth it in my opinion.

I would like to see if he ever tweaks the taco plate to account for the fitment issues with the extension tube in the future.

I've had problems with my replies - could a forum moderator please delete this reply.

It appears the problem has been that I can't post if I type a pound sign in my reply

Damn, I wish I had seen this before... I guess I need to invest more in my time on 914world...

If anyone has one of these taco plates for sale, let me know. I am interested.

I can ship one out straight away for you if you send me the total in UK pound (GBP) via paypal to boatyardbuses@aol.com

Paypal will make the currency conversion for you. Just select GBP from the currency list, and they will take the amount in $ (USD) from you.

The total will be 40 GBP via airmail, or 45 GBP via airsure (with tracking) shipped to the USA. Tracking is not usually required as I have no problems with shipments to the USA.

Cheers,
Neil

I'm going to install the tuna can shortly. Any tips from those who have done this ?

The only part that confuses me is the installation of the pickup tube extension. It seems it was designed with the short end going down; even though the pickup end won't be at the bottom, it seems the sloshing and mixing would still allow the oil to circulate properly. Any comments here ?

That's what I am concerned about: where can I shop for the replacement. I have a 911 oil temp gauge right now. Do the shorter sensors have a special designation ?

Any suggestions will be appreciated

Here,s the link to VDOs sensors: http://www.vdo-gauges.com/sensors/temperat...ors-switch.html

I am sure someone that has done these conversions with these parts can chime in here.....

I just received these and am getting ready to install and was going to put the same temp sender back in, so i an interested in the response to Jim's question as well. Why cant we use the same sender? AND what are the proper seals to use both on the taco plate/sender unit, and for the mini deep sump? - how does the pick up tube extension go in?

Cant answer for certain but the OE longer sensor was installed at an angle vs the new mount point directs that rod straight up.

Clearance?

Thanks Mark (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I see it's M14 x 1.5. When I measured the ID of the new taco plate, I got 12mm that might be the ID including the threads. Am I wrong...? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Hmmm (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

I haven't ordered a new sensor yet, just going by what Jim posted above (post# 191).

I bought a bunch of neat stuff for the car(s), but gonna have to wait until the dead of winter sets in before I can get back to working on them. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Taking the Westy over to a friend's shop on Monday, letting him do some maintenance and upgrades that I don't have the time to do.

I'm pretty sure that sensor 323-055 is the one I used in my taco plate from Jonesy....it was M14 1.5

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a tuna can and a taco plate, what are they used for and what are the benefits of having them? Pics? I have heard about them but have no idea about them.
