You'll need both if you wanna make tuna tacos... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Ok with that out of the way, the can provides a reservoir for some more oil. It bolts up inder the engine, where the screen is now. I have one and haven't installed it yet cause I'm not sure how to mount the pickup. I guess I should find out.

The plate, I believe, is an updated version of what was available to carry a sender for the oil temp. Also bolts up under the engine. Next time you're under the car, you'll see the cover plates on the sump.

What's the benefit of having a reservoir for more oil?

So you have a constant supply of oil at the pick up point ... especially during hard cornering when G-forces push the oil in your case over to one side or the other.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) I'be noticed this driving twisty roads, the Green Oil Light flashes as the G-Forces build; for daily driving in traffic, probably no advantage. The new Tuna Can is well made and look good; haven't had an oil leak.

O.k so heres a picture of all the parts.
#1. Do iuse a gasket between the oil screenand the tuna can, and between the other side of the screen and the new bottom plate?
? What about between the tuna can and the oil pan?(car)
#2. Seems to me the copper gasket supplied would not stop leak at the center screw. Should some type of gasket sealant be applied there as well?

I was under the impression that 3 paper ring gaskets are needed: 1 between the case and the 'can', 1 above and 1 below the strainer flange.

My stock strainer 'bolt' always leaked, so I used red RTV on it - hasn't leaked since.

Thought so. I have 3 sets so I will be using 3. I did not install it yet as I just ordered my sensor and will be doing what jim is doing with the new taco plate and sensor install. Thought id do them both at the same time. Just needto figure out what to use as a gasket on the taco plate install

I just got Neil's tuna can and taco plate. Will b installing soon(got black since there isn't red). The quality is excellent. Got to tell you though, never ever order without tracking because it took over a month to get to me. Wish I got in that group buy myself.

Looks like the sensor is on back order at JEGS.

I ordered mine on 11/11/14. We must have caused a run on that part. The website states if you order today the part will ship on 12/01/14.

called them yesterday, mine is scheduled to ship today, supposedly their back ordered and new supply was to come into the warehouse over the weekend. maybe yours will ship out today as well. - they must not keep many on hand/in stock.
