You guys will be missing out on a big part of the fun. The first WCC I went home each afternoon after the organized events were over because I was local. The second WCC was in SoCal, so I that wasn't an option - and I found out how much more fun it was to dedicate the whole time to the event. So this year, despite being local, I will be staying in Rohnert Park for the whole weekend.

Demick

P.S. I know this is not an option for everyone. Believe me I know - I'm up to my ears in commitments, family, etc too. Just trying to point out that the WCC/WCR is about much more than just an autocross and twisty road tour. I didn't get it until WCC'05. So if you can swing it, stay for it's entirety.

Those roads look like some of the ones I got lost on a couple times out west of Petaluma. Are one or two of those photos from Marshall-Petaluma road? I spent 45 mins without seeing another car out there on a Saturday afternoon in the winter.

The Marshall-Petaluma road is a ways south from this area, though we've done 914 tours on that route in the past. It's suffered greatly though in last years storms and isn't nearly as nice as it used to be. I recall both Dug and Brad catching air on a few of the crests on that road closer to Marshall...

Here's that route:

Here's the proposed route for the WCR drive, though I think I may tweak the first 1/4 part a bit:

Proposed WCR Route Map - The lunch stop is at "G".

There's going to be some traffic regardless of where we go on Saturday, but getting up north should help a little bit.

Just click on the map link I posted. Total mileage is retentively short, at just 135 mi from the hotel, around and back to the hotel. Driving time is around 3.5 hours.

It looks REALLY long to people who aren't used to absurdly curvey roads. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) F to G is only 36 miles. But there are 150-200 corners. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif)

Mark I assume that since I signed up in good faith for the WCC that I will remain signed up for the WCW......or do I need to subscribe again..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif) How come they call the motel the SONOMA when it's in Rhonert Park....my wifey thought we were staying in Sonoma for 3 days....now she's pissed...but she would be pissed anyway...she turns 60 on the 13th of June and we have our 39th anniversary on the 15th...see how all this stuff works out???? I'm signed up and I don't even own a 914...of course even if I did own one I surely wouldn't be driving it to the event, that would un-Mueller like, hahahaha

Looks like you guys chose Skaggs Springs Road. That is a great road! Been on it many times with bikes and cars. The forest down by the ocean is very beautiful and the tight turns about mid way through are a blast. Careful of the cops on the eastern side.....They try to bust the crotch rockets all the time especially on the weekends. Very popular bike rd.

I don't know if my 914 will be done by then. Painter says it will come out of the shop about the end of April. Everything is ready to bolt on and engine is already installed. If it's not done, I might come down for a day anyway.... Sounds like fun.

It would be great to have you come along! 914s aren't necessary, you can usually bum a ride in someone elses car. On a drive like this it's nice to have company. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
