Hell, in the NYC area we've had snow on the ground for a whole month now.
Very unusual. That is ok with me, but what really gets me is the hugely cold temps we've seen recently (for here). |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) My washing machine (in the cellar) quit working because the pump is full of water that froze. I'd like a few days of above freezing weather, kthxbai. |

Strange year here in the Sierras. Feels like April, spring skiing. We need some more snow.

The last 2 weeks here were like heaven. If the weather were always like this I couldn't afford to live here.
Oh, wait. I can't. Especially after Oprah just aired a show about "The Happiest City in America" a couple of days ago. I can smell the prices rising... |

For those of you that keep cars outdoors, what kind of issues do you have with rust?

For those of you that keep cars outdoors, what kind of issues do you have with rust? Zach Wanna see some fielthy pictures? Between my longs and some of the poor lamented carcasses out in Mark Henry's field we can really show you what happens. My humble opinion, unfettered by scientific research, is that a long hard freeze outdoors is never a problem. Snow doesn't cause rust, water (+ an electrolite) does. But in the NYC/MD area where you go from cold to above freezing throughout the winter you really need to cover up. Keeps the water off and also keeps the interior cold (no greenhouse effect). You won't see surface problems - it is the cracks and crevices and anywhere that condensation occurs. |
