I called John Ficarra at Canepa today. They are closed Saturday because they will be at Pacific Coast Dream Machines in Half Moon Bay. This will likely also impact driving on Skyline, La Honda Rd, and other back roads in the area on Saturday. Here are some options:
1) Go to Canepa Design on Friday. John said we could set something up for Friday, but this would mean doing the Carmel Valley Rd. drive on Saturday. http://www.canepa.com/ 2) Make a trip to Pacific Coast Dream Machines Saturday - $20 admission for adults. http://www.miramarevents.com/dreammachines/ 3) Make a trip to the Military Vehicle Tech Foundation in Portola Valley on Saturday - $20 per person admission. Have to tell them in advance how many to expect. The rich guy who put this collection together died a few years back, so noone knows how long it will stay open. Folks I've talked to who have seen it are really impressed. I'm a Nor. Cal. hippie, so not too keen on military, but tanks and such are still cool. Driving to Portola Valley could also be impacted by traffic going to Half Moon Bay. http://www.mvtf.org/ So let's get some discussion going on what kind of twisty drives we want to do, what activities along the way, and what days to do them. |

I wonder if Ken would be willing to flip the Friday and Saturday drives so we could go to Canepa on Friday?

I wonder if Ken would be willing to flip the Friday and Saturday drives so we could go to Canepa on Friday? I have been talking with Ken and we agreed to do the Canepa tour on Friday. I talked to John at Canepa and he is expecting us. I plan to get folks together at about 9:00 AM and set off at 9:14. There are some interesting roads we can take on the way to Canepa Design so that we get there by 11:30. Later we can stop for lunch at a local hole in the wall, Cafe Carlos, and perhaps take Hwy 9 to Los Gatos for a quick look at the exotic car dealership there. My vote for Saturday is the "route 1" Ken proposed under an earlier post. I figure anyone who wants to do 17-mile drive or Big Sur would be better off driving there in small groups or with alone with a significant other, and not be burdened by trying to find a place to park 20 or 30 914s. |

Thanks for doing this to both you and Ken... It is tough for the rest of us being so remote to put this on... You guys are the best! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
