Hello Everyone
I am new to this site. Lurking for about a month I will be flying down to Atlanta and picking up Pankopp's converted 914. Pankopp has been very patient with all of my questions It looks like a reliable car and I can't wait to drive it home. If there is anyone from Michigan that has a 914 please chime in. I am hoping to meet a couple of people with some experience maintaining these cars. I am new to them but a quick study. Thank You for any help you can lend Mike |

Mike,
I'm in Plymouth. Also have a Subaru conversion teener, except mine was purchased as an unfinished project and hasn't made much further progress under my watch. |

Have you had someone knowledgeable take a look at it? I ask because I was interested in that car a while back but in the pics there is some kind of metal riveted onto the longs then painted over. It may be for stiffening or it may be hiding a bigger problem with rust.
Otherwise it is a beautiful car. I wanted to buy it and switch it back to chrome bumpers. That green is really pretty. Good luck and he safe! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) I have not had anyone look at the car I did notice the rivets and Pankopp says that there was some work done to the hell hole but has no idea regarding the longs I plan to look underneath and double check the door fitment Pankopp assures me the body is solid. I may be naive, but I feel the car body is solid. Thanks for the heads up Mike |

This is the image that was a little worrying (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i694.photobucket.com-11752-1409586017.1.jpeg) Kevin, That's interesting - same thoughts occurred to me. I considered this car to be a decent starting point for a subi also, but had concerns about some of the body/metal work. Was too busy to pursue it. Glad someone did that's willing to dive in. Welcome to the fun, Mike! |

Welcome to the fun, Mike! Thanks I agree Car is not perfect but a good starting point. I wanted a good runner, not a show car. Looking to learn a lot from this experience. Thanks for your input Mike |
