Hello World,

I am reworking my front 5 lug struts,shocks and calipers. I was able to pick-up a set of Wilwood Superlite 3.5" spacing front calipers with 3 sets of additional brake pads.
Upon doing a dry run on fit, I needed to trim my brake dust covers slightly but I noticed that the caliper did not line up in the center of the rotor.
Rotors are new Sebro 405 43001 098.

Is it possible to use washers to adjust the caliper position to center. I would obviously purchase longer bolts to make sure that the same amount of thread is holding in the strut. The adjustment distance would be approximately 5mm.

I've done that before and never had an issue, I'd get hardened washers from MrMetric or McMaster-Carr the thickness and flatness of each washer is more tightly controlled.

Yes Wilwood did make a 3.5" spaced Front Caliper it is Light and it is beautiful. Photo's to follow.

Just like my English Shampoo states on the back:

"ASKED FOR THEREFORE MADE" Picksniff's.

Photo taken will be added on Monday, sorry, I have my photo stuff on my work computer.

Thanks, agree needs to be higher quality washers and bolts.

I wouldnt hesitate to use quality washers to space a caliper as long as the bolts are high grade..

Correct this is on the wrong strut, I noticed that when I saw the box had specific Right & Left Calipers and I Colonel Klinked it.

Oh so nice, Marty P/N for the 6 pucks, and what rotor radius are you thinking. ?

Then that leads to a long slope I was already heading down, next up, pedals, and M/Cs Pondering proper sizing of the MCs?

Any body need some heavy 88 Carrera Rotors for there 914, I'll even toss in the GBS Yellows, stops a 914 like a freight train. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) They add to the unsprung weight of the car. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

I took this off the same memory card in my Nikon as one of the Golf Tournaments I ran this season. I am a Golf Professional at a Club in Southwest Florida. After the tournament is over we photograph the Scoreboards, print them out and then file them away with the other pertinent tournament info. So that when Mrs. Hamelfarb wants to know what Mrs. Chetnik shot in the Spring Member/Member we can damn sure accommodate them. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I have no idea how it got put in the thread as I tried to delete it twice, sorry you had to look at my calligraphy and wonder what the $%^&?

OK, Here's my Wilwood conversion & I love it.

Initial installation was with Stoptech rotors & I used washers to center the caliper, worked fine.

Check out the difference in the pad sizes vs. "A" calipers--massive!

However, with those rotors I found that the Wilwoods pads don't sweep the entire disc, leaving about 1/2 inch around the inside next to the hub. They developed radial cracks immediately from the uneven thermal stress leaving me a bit uncomfortable about staying with those stock dimension rotors.

So...Installed Wilwood's rotors using the hat sold by Rebel Racing & fabricated a 3/8 inch aluminum bracket to center the pads on the rotor disc radially and axially. Saved a bit more weight and better yet, the replacement rotors are like $30 from Summit Racing--can't beat that.Attached Image Attached Image
BTW, Here's my Porterfield R4 pads after 3 DE events totalling about 700 miles on track and maybe another 300 miles street driving. The outers have worn more than the inners and when they're pulled there's a noticeable fromt to back taper. Doesn't affect the braking at all--frankly, I'm still overbraking nearly everywhere--just breathing on these monsters takes a lot of momentum out of a 2000 pound car!Attached Image

Be careful about jumping on 6 piston units that you size everything properly front to rear and to suit the ratio with the M/C....My setup is using Wilwood 120-11131 with 1.62 inch pistons to go with "M" calipers on the rear and 23mm M/C. High hard pedal & could probably work better with 19mm M/C....ymmv.
