Im lost and in need of advice. I was looking to see what front pads were available for my 73 914 and there were too maybe to choose from. I was wondering if anybody has any insite on these pads. Do the pads need to come with shims or not? Also is ceramic pads a good choice or just go with semi-metallic? and which brand is perefered? All advice is welcomed and thank you for the help.

I put Porterfields on the front of my teener a few years back. They are excellent! Bought them from PMB. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) .... but do all 4 corners at the same time. I put even put Poreterfield R4S 's on the front discs & rear drums of our `88 Westy van & improved it's braking performance by 15-25% I'd guess-timate. I'll do the 85 BMW 325e's pads when it's due for them. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welcome.png) Good Luck! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Tom /////// |

Porterfield R4-S is what you want. I had to hog out one of the holes a bit on mine to get them to fit.

Thank you r_towle, steuspeed, Tom_T, and Saigon71 for the advice. I guess I'm getting the Poreterfield R4S on all fours.
