Has anyone ever experienced a torsion bar failure? At speed? If so, please, how did the car react and how severe was it? Also, if you have broken a bar - was it stock or aftermarket? I couldn't find an applicable thread...thanks.

You'll hear a big bang or cracking sound, that side of the car will droop really bad, and handling will be dangerous.

Had one break many yrs ago, can't remember if while it sat, or driving.
When the rear rubber bushing sags, the bar now starts scraping the ID of the A-arm which wears thru the protective coating, then leading to corrosion and subsequent fatigue failure initiated along a corrosion pit. |

I would say the tire would hit the inside of the fender and steering would be tuff.
Recently pushed a tub with one bar missing on to a trailer. Had to back it on 'cause nothing, including the U-Haul straps, would fit around the front tire. |

The 911 guys break them all the time. We have proof in the shop. Stock and aftermarket. Mostly older bars that have a little rust and a little wear/rubbing.
