Fuel pump question. Anyone running a Bosch 044 fuel pump?
How bad is the noise? Mine has always been somewhat noisy but lately it has become very annoying. To the point of considering changing it out to a Bosch 69133 Research on the Web (Cause its always right) reveals many others commenting on the noise the Bosch 044 pump makes. Little back story Couple weeks ago I took the little car out for a drive, got about 2 miles from home and it just quit. With a little help from the Township crew in the truck following me we pushed to the top of the small rise I was on and coasted down to a local auto repair shop. Where I discovered the fuel pump had quit. Did the normal things like switching relays and jumping the pins but no luck. The shop owner knows me and quickly flatbeded it back to my house. After more testing in my garage I discovered that a spade connector I had placed in the ground wire leading from the rear to the front mounted pump had blistered and broke connection. I have since replaced the 16ga wires I installed back in the early 80’s with 12ga and ran the negative wire to the ground point under the dash near the fuse box. Yesterday I took it for another test ride and I swear the fuel pump is louder than ever. The fuel pressure is the same as always 29lbs. Others have stated “one day it’s loud and the next day it’s not” So back to the original question If you are running a Bosch 044 pump how loud is it? Those who are running the Bosch 69133, how loud is IT ? I want to be able to at least hear it buzz, but not be annoying like it is now. Mine is mounted under the tank. I think the 044 pump may have been overkill for my setup anyways. |

Most fuel pump noise can be reduced with soft rubber mounts. How was yours mounted?
You can use any 3 bar pressure pump. Just a matter of wiring and plumbing. |

It is wrapped with silicon tape inside the mount.
It looks close to the sway bar in this pic, but is really about 1/4 in away from it. |

The 044 is one of the loudest pumps on the market. It also flows a Lot Of fuel.
I have mine in a surge tank in the engine compartment and can hear it over my engine at anything but WOT and I have a pretty loud car. |

I had a noisy Pump because of a colapsed suction line. I believe the pump came in cavitation. After rerouting the line the noise was a lot less. Also check the Screen Filter in the Tank. Maybee rust particels have clogged it. Michael |
