Sent pictures, told "not service effecting, only cosmetic". Looks like it will hit. Options given, repair myself or return. Mostly annoyed.

Yeah, that's really off. Those look freshly anodized, as if they werent in the original assembly... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)
I remenber playing with that when I rebuilt mine and the best I could do as far as alignment was this (pictures below). OK, but not great, especially second picture . (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Now how to refinish them... I would like the aluminum S look. Was actually thinking about powder coating some kind of brushed aluminum finish... Dang! Who did the work? It be easier and quicker to loosen the bolts, reposition the spacers and retorque rather than package and ship. I had to do this to a steel pair I sent out for restoration.

Seriously? So, they're not able to get them back as they were before disassembly ? WTH! I'd be frickin' annoyed too.

It be easier and quicker to loosen the bolts, reposition the spacers and retorque rather than package and ship. If the holes in the spacer allows it. I did what the holes in mine allowed me to move and got the result in the picture... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) I remeber swapping some around too. |

Is this simply a matter of the spacer sections not being cast correctly/symmetrically and therefore requiring a need to get them back exactly where they were at before disassembly? - or maybe these guys inverted them or something?
I have a set I will rebuild eventually so I'm looking for the take away on this... maybe they should be scribed with a pinch (multi dot designations on both the spacer and caliper halves) before disassembling ? . |
