Do all 914 enthusiasts have and keep a listing of the projects their machines are in need of? Life, including grandkids, work, travel can often get in the way.

A list of parts I need for everything. Yes. Not that it changes much but I try

Yep. I have a Google Doc with a running list of projects (parts needed, costs, time spent). Sadly, for every one I cross off, two are added.

I keep the completed projects on the list (using strikethrough) to show progress is actually being made. Otherwise, it could feel overwhelming.

To be honest it’s whatever pops into my head that Particular day. In my mind I need a NM rust free chassis some day and put all my parts on it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

@mb911 here's 2. I don't know anything about them but they fit your first criteria.

My list keeps getting longer because of the parts that break ( that keep the car from moving ) get continually put at the top . (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving-girl.gif)

Ditto for me, if it doesn't make it to "the list" it can't be forgotten. These days I have one running "most" of the time while I am working on ...... what was I working on?

I purposefully do not keep a list, especially not with money spent.

I really don't want to know.

I made a list once. It was too depressing to keep up with it.

I do lists for needs, not cost.
I agree with Sir Andy!

My problem is that I then LOSE the list...

For the last 40 years, we have put all the receipts into a box and we NEVER add them up. We probably could have bought a brand new 911GT3 for what we have spent, and has money left over.

Never add up your receipts.

As for a "to do" list, I have a white board in the garage with the next 3 or 4 things to do to each car. As I do something, I erase it and add something else.

Instead of lists I set day by day mental goals. If i don’t achieve my goal I set for today there’s always tomorrow.
The object is to stay inspired and not burn out over an overwhelming amount of work.

And don’t let perfection get in the way of progress

I am OK with a list or no list.

However, I totally agree with not adding up the money spent, especially, ESPECIALLY, if you are collecting parts for a six conversion!

I will NEVER add that one up, I really don't want to know.
