3.0 engine for sale. Was rebuilt in the early 2000’s but at some point, the car sat outside for a long period of time. We fired it up on the engine stand and it’s running well. I will eventually load the video onto YouTube but you can email or text if you want to see proof of life. The engine comes without exhaust (we need the headers for our test stand runs). Other than that, it seems to be a good running engine with a rebuild history. I would plan on rebuilding the wur and fd. That’s pretty normal to do on cis but in the mean time, everything works.
$14,500 - PM me or email - Mark@MarkEpstein.net I can ship to your door for the cost of shipping. Usually $250-550 depending on location. Sorry, photos got jumbled during upload. Attached thumbnail(s) Attached image(s) |

What were those rated for regarding power?
Funny story, They wheeled one of those into my A&P classes (early 90s) and told all the students The Porsche/Mooney has a super complex fuel injection system, and they SHOULD not try to repair these in the field... I raised my hand and said WTF! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) Every Rabbit/Volvo/ last decade European car has the system and that the one on that engine was the early "Non-Lamba" version. Then I started laughing... They asked WTF? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) I replied "Porsche had a bunch of these left over, can't sell them anywhere now, and pawned them off on the aviation world..." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) They asked me "Wanna teach class this session?" So, I taught CIS in a College classroom a decade before they actually hired me as an "Adjunct Instructor" for automotive classes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ninja.gif) |

Dion had cis on his type 4 build and it looked and ran really good. I’m pretty sure parts came off a VW.
3.0 cis engine is good for 175-180hp but a real favorite if you plan to hot rod it. I believe it was the same engine case as the turbo. |

Would a 2.7 FD work and a rebuild 2.7 FD work? I have had these rebuilt on my car... just not knowledgeable enough on the parts for a 3.0...And which flywheel is on one of these? ie., 2.7 flywheel mates to the 901 easy, yes?

I don't think the cis parts switch around easily. I run everything by my cis guru - Tony Donato - Boy911sc on pelican. |

For flywheel/clutch, you can use the regular 3.0 flywheel and clutch if you bolt use a 70/71 911 trans case, which used the 225 mm clutch.
I wonder if Kennedy or anyone else makes an earlier style flywheel to fit the 9 bolt crank like 3.0 has. |

Kennedy makes a cup style 9 bolt flywheel package or an adapter ring for the factory flywheel as well. PMS also sell a kit which I believe is the Kennedy parts. On my brothers 3.0 we used a cup style Kennedy flywheel, disc, and pp. All works well with the 901. |

I believe it was the same engine case as the turbo. I put 964 cams, headers and weber 40's on my 3.0 (otherwise stock '81), I think it was about 230hp, I talked to someone that dynoed and early large valve 3.0 with 46mm webers he claimed 260hp. They can get over 300hp with some good parts. But more than anything the webers make awesome throttle response. |

Thats a great price for a 3.0L. If I was a little younger I'd do another build. Best, Mark
