Question: what can I use to re-glue my door window to the metal channel. The old glue don’t glue no more. This is the metal c-channel on the front edge of the window glass that slides up & down in the vent window frame.
Thanks! |

I want to know too!
The bottom channel came off of my right side window. In my case it's the channel that the window regulator mounts too. Rubber is in good shape, glue has died big time. I'm leaning towards using Urethane window sealant. This is the stuff they BOND modern windows into cars today. It's a cross between caulk and epoxy. I'm betting the drivers window is the same way. https://www.amazon.com/3M-08609-Window-Weld...666399278682613 Sadly, I've never had a tube last more than a couple of days after being opened and I'll need a very small amount... Check the tightness of both the front and the rear window (which are installed with butyl "cord"). https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/N14R...8BoCHyYQAvD_BwE My front window was OK, but my rear window was SO loose I'm glad I checked before driving car. This was a tip I first saw here on this site. It was a GOOD tip! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ninja.gif) |

I'd use epoxy if you are trying to glue the metal to the glass. Clean it up with a razor blade, then JB Weld it.
PS I have the new improved rollers if you are missing them https://914rubber.com/window-track-roller-with-washer Attached image(s) |

I've done this with windshield urethane, but I was off by just the smallest amount on the angle of the slider (1974 car). That gets amplified at the end of the window. I can't quite get the gaps right now... Just something to think about.

I've not been able to free a window installed with urethane without breaking the window yet! I've got a good glass guy that can. |

I use Dow 995 White adhesive for bonding COE 90 glass to aluminum french cleats. Same adhesive they use for high rise building windows. I have no idea if it would work in this instance but I thought I’d bring it up.

I have no idea if it would work in this instance but I thought I’d bring it up. Used the windscreen sealer and marked position of old sealer and then moved around with window up ,this would only work if winders aren't worn out and surround seals good and lined up properly ,top roof seal needs to be correct also ,not really a hard job ,cheers. |
