Hello,

I purchased a full set of Maxilite 914 Frosted Fuchs 4-lug wheels from PMB. They come with the standard center cap. I purchased a set of Porsche OEM center caps from Pelican Parts that are made for the 5-lug Fuchs.

With some modifications, I was able to securely mount the OEM caps on the 4-lug Fuchs.

Has anyone else done this?

How'd you do it - and if you really want to be "proper" the bottom of the crest should point to the valve stem....

How I did this…..

Front:

Fastening clips must be removed. The front wheel bearing grease caps contact these clips, and will not allow the center caps to be seated properly.

These come with (3) spring steel clips on the back side held on by small metal tabs that are fitted through holes in the clips and then expanded. Those need to be carefully ground down to the hole in the clips. Then they can easily be removed.

I used 3M two-sided tape cut to fit the width of the beveled edge that fits into the wheel center bore. Attach and remove the red covering from the outside of the tape. Fit in place and let cure for the recommended 72 hours.

This tape is used on most newer vehicles from the factory to attach emblems, side molding, etc. I have used it on many restorations. It holds where others fail Use only 3M.

If the caps need to be removed at anytime for wheel balancing, etc., use of a heat gun with soften the tape enough to remove it.

Rear:

The clips do not need to be removed, as there are no grease caps that interfere with the fit. I used two needle nose pliers to very slightly bend the spring steel clips to a more vertical position to fit tightly over the inner lip of the wheel center bore. Use one plier to hold the clip and another to bend it. If you attempt to simply bend the clip with only one plier, you could pop the clip off the cap.

Make sure that you do not over-bend the clip. The end of the clip that contacts the wheel must be snug to prevent any movement of the caps.

I used the same tape on the seam between the cap and the wheel bore and left the outer red covering on for the rears.

Worked for me!

You guys need to know that these areas need to be super clean, no oil residue of any kind or even the great 3-M (Minnesota Mining Manufacturing) stuff won't stick
