Pretty certain I will be selling this item as didn't do my homework and found it is non-compliant in my country in my application due to the rules here are very tough due to speedo tampering of JDM in the early days I was told ,so in essence it is no use to me but believe it could be fitted to an Australian registered car .

You already do ...

The 50km/h zone speed limit is only within city limits.
It's the equivalent of the US 25/30/40 mph zones in cities.

It is called out on European speedos because it's important for pedestrian safety.

Foolish people do it and they burn like a bugger ,some catch fire once in the collector truck and that can be serious .

It's not in the classified section yet so no rule on price ,as mentioned 'expressions of interest ' just checking to find what I payed but price will be sensible and will list it tomorrow .

Seems silly to me to "mark" an area on a speedometer at any spot.

Now, marking it at "city" speed limits does make more sense than the USA version of 55 MPH...

And on the trash can markings.

Safety "Karens" created BOTH the speedometer markings and the "No Hot Ash" markings.

Just seems to me, if you're putting embers into a plastic trash can, God is going to sort it out for you!

You cannot fix stupid.
Why label for it?
Soon you will have so many labels that NONE are taken seriously.

That speedo is older than any safety belt requirements. I doubt anyone named Karen was involved.

As someone who grew up in a very rural area of Germany, i always found the speedo markings rather useful, especially at night.

You don't even need to read the numbers, just a quick glance at the speedo needle and you know if you're in the ballpark or above.

Especially useful when you're driving drunk!

Yep ,converted to LED strip lighting ,SO much better than weak BA7S lamps for sure.
Single LEDs don't really work down the lighting tubes due to lack of projection ,been there and done that but are ok with combo gauges and other 50mm ones as tested on my car .
Black /white wire go's direct to gauge female spade on lighting supply ,the rest is standard ,Cheers.

Take another look at it. That is not MPH, it is KPH. It's a Euro speedo. I had one for a while that came out of a Grey market 914. It was lots of fun to put it in the car to frighten passengers with how fast you were going.

I think its a ROW (Euro/Japanese) market item, not Euro-only. This speedo pictured below is on Georges' 1974 Japanese-market 914 SL Bumblebee.

Note Georges's is also the later black center style, where yours is the earlier silver dot style pointer.

I got the conversion right...

And I have a funny story about this type of stuff.

I did a dash removal/evap core on an 11 civic (PIA!), worked fine but customer brought the car back the next day.

Said the car is now showing 100+ MPH at normal freeway speeds...

Those actually have an individual button on the digital dash to change from US standard to Metric.

Both the customer and I were equally embarrassed!

Thanks for the pic Jeff ,i went for a silver dot one to match my other 911 gauges ,this one is dated 10.72 ,found one only on German ebay sellers listing by googling the part number and it stated 911 and 914/6 fitment ,interesting as this one had the same part number but the main body was different to mine and date 7.72 ,listing price 587usd .
Won't be selling for that however turns out I bought this way back in 2016 and have worked out a price now .

Prices are all over the map on gauges these days

I picked up one identical to yours (silver dot, euro kph) gauge in decent working condition for $250 last year at a Porsche swap meet.

I was going to have refurbished by Palo Alto and put into my 914 until I came across a set of three mint restored silver dot GT gauges (10k tach, euro speedo, and custom triple gauge (oil temp, pressure, and fuel). Perfect for my euro-inspired 2.7 twin plug. They were considerably more $ as they were fully restored.

My pal with a real 914-6 is thrilled that I gifted the Speedo I bought last year to him for his GT tribute build.
