These seatbelts were rebuilt, but I think they only changed the webbing.

Is the installation correct? Is the webbing suppose to twist as shown in the photo?

Or do I need the springs replaced too?

I made sure the alignment pin is in the firewall hole.

The belt is flipped. The inside edge behind the backpad goes on the outside of the hanger.

Mine do the opposite - most of the time they won't pull out to buckle.

Are new springs available?

Or is it better to buy new seatbelts? Like these?

Sent mine off to get new belts. Heard nothing but positive feedback about them. Excited to see how they work.

Mine would pull out okay, made noise. Would retract with a little help. Hoping they will be smoother and retract without help.

Seatbelt planet is who replaced the webbing.

Said they may or may not be able to replace the springs.

Just thinking it might be easier to replace the whole seatbelt.

Other recommendations would be appreciated.

My seatbelts should be here tomorrow. I'll try to install and take pictures, let you know how it goes.

Got my belts back from Seatbelt Planet and installed them loose to see how they worked. The new webbing is top-notch, but I wish they would have cleaned and lubed the mechanism. I specifically asked that be done and I can tell it wasn't touched. Oh well, I still have to help the belt retract which sucks.

For the OP, here's what I believe to be the correct orientation of the guide bar:

Here's a shot installed, just to see how things worked.

Anyone know any tricks to getting some lube on the spring side without taking the cover off? I've only taken the cover off a couple of times and spent the next 6 hours getting the spring back in. Would prefer NOT to have to do that again!

Took the large cover off and cleaned/lubed parts. Belts are smooth and quiet now. Feels like they'll retract with little assistance.

Reminder not to pull off the smaller cover. That side has the spring.

Does the male insert stick out or is it covered by the belt? If it's covered, I think your belt is still twisted. Hmm...

I'll go check.

I think your belt is still flipped. Maybe mine is, but it works fine. Who knows?

I think I have the same orientation. Just looks different without the back pad on.

Regardless the belt should retract easily if it is free and not binding/rubbing against anything.

Any solutions?
