I came across this GT reinforcement that was made many years ago by John Williamson (RIP), owner of Otto's in Venice.
I am wondering if anyone here is familiar with it? Maybe they have this kit on their car? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) I have figured out where four out of the six panels go, but I am puzzled as for the last two. Where would part 1 and 2 go? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Thanks! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) ![]() |

On the 4cyl cars with the Left and Right engine mount buckets...you probably don't use some of the pieces; but I will check with one of my buds that worked with JW at that (former) Venice shop.

JW did my car with that "armor plating" kit as he called it - I'll try to take a look/pic

I also have Otto’s kit on my car. I have the original instructions. I can look tonight for them when I get back home.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) ![]() The #2 piece may be the Ralph Meaney motor mount reinforcement strap - it is on the motor side mount and wraps over/around the tube that the big main bolt goes though (a known weak spot of the GT racers) |

So, it looks like a couple of options for part 2:
- reinforcement for the /6 mount per Marty and Live Free - replacement for the missing layer when /4 mounts are removed from sixnotfour. Or could part #1 be the /6 mount reinforcement? Then part 2 would be for when the /4 mounts are removed, per Live Free's picture of that area? I guess that would go right in line with Marty's comment, part 2 not needed if /4 mounts are kept on the car. Thank you Chris for the installed pictures. These are from Otto's kit? Looking forward to seeing Steve's input (install sheets). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

@Steve Thank you for finding this! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)
So, what I am understanding from this is none of these two parts (my labeling as 1 and 2) labeled as 4a and 4b in Otto's sketch are for for any engine mount reinforcement. We can set that theory aside. It looks like 4a - 4b are to reinforce the longs in the trailing arm mounting point area. The one I have labeled as 2 could be the underside along that indented area for the /4 mount (per I have to say I am not really understanding what the upper left portion of the drawing means... Overal, this is definitely great progress! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) More edits: Then again, what are we looking at here in Chris' pictures? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) ![]() Edit: I believe this one below is one of the two stock layers tying the inner to the outer consoles. ![]() |

I know the shop in AZ that installed the kit 30 years ago was also confused by the instructions. They had to call JW to figure it out. I can put my car on the lift this weekend and take some pictures. The shop in AZ went out of business years ago.

Steve, when you have an opportunity, this would be great!
Looking again at Chris' first picture I circled in red, I may have a comparison below. I rotated my picture to get a similar angle. I think part #1 goes there, although the inner end may need attention. Compare the plug welds location on Chris' and the holes in my bare plate, looks promising.
