I forgot to include lubrication. I'll insert that. I used graphite that came in an aerosol can. Would also a very thin smear of white lithium around the lock cylinder be okay or is the graphite alone just fine?

I re-keyed my locks awhile back before I knew there was a proper way to do it (still don't know what it is). Took my ignition key and inserted it into each of the removed lock assemblies, and filed down any of the gates that happened to be protruding above the housing. Like I said, probably not the "correct" way to do it, but it worked! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

I just tried to look at this thread yesterday too and was taken to a banking website (I think?) Hope we can get this information back. I want to re-do my lock cylinders soon and I like to get a heads up before tackling the unknown.

Is there any way to get a new set of keys and locks? My keys are are looking more like toothpicks than keys these days.
Wonder if I can mount the ignition key in the dash, since I have to take all the parts out anyway? |
