Spent the most of my 9-14 under my 914 grinding welds. I ended up replacing the entire bottom of the long. from the suspension console to past the jack post. With a little more work I'll be putting the floor back and starting the other side.
joe this is the start on the outer long. Attached image(s) |

Joe, I am about to start the same job with near identical rust involvement. How much of the rear quarter panel did you have to get to the rust?
Can it be done from the inside with the engine removed? THanks, Paul |

Hi Paul,
This is my first attempt at a good rust repair. This is a scary spot to start digging. The frame 2 layers here and any visible rust is only the tip. Removing the floor and peices of firewall along with a more complicated shape made the inside more work. If you need to work above the jack post on the outer then a peice of the door sill, door jamb, and peice of the fender need to be removed. Post some pics for a better opinion. joe |

Today I added a rib to the bottom to match the factory seam. Hope to button this side up this week.
