Has anyone pulled the nose cone off of the tranny with the whole unit still in the car, AND without draining the tranny fluid? I've got a gasket leak between the nose cone and the intermediate plate. That's a relatively easy thing to take care of, but I would like to leave the tranny mated to the engine while I take it apart, and I also have fresh gear oil in there so I don't want to throw it all away just yet.
With the rear of the car up in the air I'm thinking that I can get all of the fluid up past this joint, then support the bottom of the tranny while I remove the mounts and the nose cone itself. Sound doable, or is this a mess waiting to happen? Thanks, Dion |

Check my link in sig line for pics, and look the the tech articles on Pelican for a how to. It is fairly straight forward. The only trick is to use some heavy grease to hold the notched washer in place while you position the tail cone back on.
