UPDATED 03/19/2024

We passed the 5,000 7,777 10,000 12,000 mark on our Members VIN database! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

If you haven't added or updated your VIN info, please do so here:
http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?act=membervins
You can add multiple cars and edit/update your current info.

If you ever parted out a car or came across a dead one in the junk yard, read this:
http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=92742

The more info, the better. We're looking for:

- VIN
- Paint code (badge on drivers side front door jamb)
- Build date (sticker on drivers side rear door jamb)
- Chassis number (badge on drivers side front door jamb and stamped into rear trunk floor)
- A picture link
- Any comments or info on the car you'd like to share

Very cool. I had previously entered my VIN. I just headed out to the garage this morning to get the other info and entered it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I just updated mine to show it sold and passed on to new owner. Many will be happy to know that the Chalon kit is being taken off and Roger Sheridan flares are being put on.

Are the purists still giving you a hard time for having a real /6 as a race car?

I for one like the fact that the car is being used the way they were meant to be used!

Time to give this thread another bump. We just passed the 5300 VIN number mark today!

Thanks to everyone who has entered their info.

Any research on how many cars are still in driving shape vs parts cars?
In an attempt to prove more value (declining numbers) what about a project to trade vins with harp, club, etc?

You can filter the VIN view by "dead/crushed/cut up/rusted away" ...

So far, we have 276 "dead" cars in the database.
http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?act...ns&byDead=1

The problem with that side of the statistics is that people usually don't just come here to enter the VIN of a parts car they're about to cut up.

Andy, if we no longer own a car should we delete it? I'm thinking it would leave the data base if the new owner did not list it here. Thanks for all you do to keep us going.

My vin is listed twice. Once for a craigslist ad and once for my listing. I would like the CL ad vin deleted. I PMd Andy the other day about this and got no action or response. 4702906629

I just added the VIN of the beautiful '74 that I'm selling.
I wish I would have kept the VIN's of the chassis that were used to rebuild Huey. I had 2 or 3 that were cut up and tossed to use for parts...

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I get to it when i get to it ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

As a general rule, unless the current owner explicitly requests previous entries to be deleted, we leave them as a history/trail of the cars ownership.
All it takes is three words in the description to stake your claim.

Btw., the number of VINs in the database quoted above is *unique* VINs. Duplicates are not counted towards the total.

Hey Andy,

Finally got around to entering some of my past cars... 6 to be exact. Still have a few to go.

I called Hagerty my Insurance Co, and they were to provide me with all my past vin numbers!!! Just a tip to make it easy.

Now I gotta find the cars I had on my regular insurance.
