Hello to all!!!

I am a long time fan of the 914, and recently joined the boards. I am curious if there are any members located in the KC/Topeka area. I am coming into the market to purchase a 914 and local resources/enthusiasts would be great to know.

I have a fairly extensive aircooled background (previous VW ownership), along with electrical/wiring and welding ( (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) )knowledge.

Well, I know this may be out of place on the technical forum, but there didn't seem to be a general topic forum.

Thanks
MatrixOps

Welcome to the club. I'm 4 hours south of you, 2.5 if I'm in a hurry. I was at Lees Summit 2 months ago and bought 6 914s and saw 8 or 9 running around the KC area. They have quit a few parts cars laying around but thats all they are because of the rust is pretty bad in that area. I've sold parts to guys at Ft Riley, Forbes and KC area. I've heard rummor of a guy in KC that has a shop that deals in 914 cars, just haven't had time to check it out. You might check a VW parts store, they will know. I'll be up there later this month or early next month, Ill give you a shout and we'll go hunting.

That "Technical Forum" moniker is just to throw people off. This *is* the general forum. Welcome to the board!

Welcome to the club MatrixOps.

I grew up in Overland Park and graduated from K-State.
Is that close enough to help? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I think Lawrence will be going back to Ft. Riley when he gets to come home from Iraq. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ar15.gif)

Good luck in your search for the right car.
Post you questions and photos and we will do what we can to help.

914Gem, drop me a line before you head up and we can look around.

Also, anyone in the Denver area, I will be heading that way the week of August 23rd (IBM training). Maybe we could grab a beer somewhere. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

MatrixOps,
I live in Eudora (just east of Lawrence). My 914 is not running yet, but close. Feel free to drop me a line.
