After reading the post asking what to bring on a long trip in a 40 year old German sports car, I seem to recall a list of phone numbers across the country that used to exist. Maybe we can get Sir Andy or one of the admins. to compile a list on 914 World that is accessable to members who might break down somewhere far from home and need help. Does this list still exist somewhere? Anyway, if someone has trouble close to the central California coast they can call me. I know there are privacy issues people are concerned about. If you're not interested I certainly understand your apprehension.

BMW motorcycle owners of america (MOA) has a guide book called "Anonymous" that lists folks willing to help, wrench, provide lodging, etc. Worth joining just to have that booklet....

It should be a private list, only to be retrieved and distributed by the Admins discretion. Keeping the list open for all to see, would only invite the cold callers.

In the past, with another 914 website, a list was printed up and made available to anyone who wanted it. It doesn't have to be on the internet. Most importantly, no one is forcing you to volunteer your number. If you have privacy concerns I totally understand.

Elliot, I am going to call you later tonight to find out what you are wearing.
Ron, I assume you aren't wearing anything. Brave men, all, posting their phone numbers. Please stick a few alpha characters in there just in case!?! I can be reached by PM very easily as I am on here 24/7. If anyone needs my services, which consist of rolling up in my truck and confirming that you broke your 914, just lemme know. |

Killjoy. And i was just about to find out if your refrigerator was running. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) It runs quite well and I sleep naked if that helps. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) This is getting to be too much like the sandbox. By now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif) |

Back on topic -
I'm located in the Los Angeles 'South Bay' area, about 10 miles S/E of the LAX airport. Facilities include a work shop with a lift and a bunch of tools (including jack stands), sleeping quarters, restrooms and a fridge. Also have an enclosed trailer with a winch. I don't know how to use any of this stuff, but I have it ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Elliot has my #, so call him first, and he can call me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/call me.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif) 'Someone' might want to call Greg to see if he still has the list handy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) ... It probably needs updated though, my cell and residence #s have changed since he got my info. |

I've seen very quick results for multiple people just by them posting stuck here? There are so many members on the world that word travels quick. It doesn't take to long before someone close to where the breakdown occured will get word. So while I am not posting my number here. I'm glad to give it to anyone heading my way. I also would normally announce a trip in my 914 of any significant distance. Not just in case I break down. Hopefully to be able to see a fellow teener in route. It's a rare trip I don't stop to meet someone for a quick bite & a break from the road. |
