Since my 2002 engine seemed to bring a few "crossover" enthusiasts out of the woodwork, here's my latest dreaming.
Saw this car on craigslist for $350. Anybody wanna buy me a christmas present? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Attached image(s) |

I have wanted one for a while. I think they look cool. I don't think they handle anywhere close to how a 914 does tho.

Check my edit. Power window conversion, power mirrors,
mesh style wheels off a Mustang II. I had the bolt pattern redrilled. This little 4 cylinder rocket would wax the a@# of 5.0 Mustangs. |

Go for it. I won't be getting it. Doesn't come with an engine, but hey! I've got one of those. I'll rebuild it for you for the cost of parts. Just for me to "get my hands dirty" and have something for me to post on the 2002 Club site. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Hum, German, early years prone to rust, small engines. Not too far removed from our cars. I like them a lot, too.
There is one for $1495 here in San Diego. '73 witha fresh race motor, and a 5spd trans that both need an install. Its on collector car trader. |

I was exploring some old vacant buildings in philly the other week and found this really creepy looking old factory. I climbed up the front and looked inside to find 4-6 2002's sitting there. looks like they haven't moved in a very long time.

In 1974 I went to the SF carshow and my 2 favorite cars were the 914 and the 2002. I was 14 years old then.
I have owned a 2002 and was very involved with the driving events, and I now own the 914. I have always felt very comfortable in these cars and I think it has something to do with the relativly vertical windshield. Whenever I'm in the 914 I still feel like I'm a 14 yr old kid. Now with 3 boys I am considering a 2002 for the back seat and 914s are a drag to work on without a hoist. I prefer doing my valve adjustments standing up. The stock 914 far outhandles a stock 2002. One of my best friends in high school lived in a (mostly) all 2002 household. They had probably 5 2002s (2 to 3 running at any given time). Naturally I got one too. Great little cars and can be real hot rods. Sure to be very collectible except for the high prod numbers. Led to my owning an e12 528i and e3 bavaria. Love the old bimmers. So does anyone know where I can find a non rusty 3.0 Coupe for the SO?

I've sort of always wanted a 2002 tii as well. I had a '77 320I and while being a fun car it was an underpowered pig of a car. It was like a 2002 with a 500 pound weight in the back seat. Still, it was my first sort of fun car to drive and I had a lot of fun with it.
Unfortunately, now that I've moved on to P-cars I can't see going back to BMWs unless it was a newer model to replace my daily driver. I couldn't see wanting to trade either the 914 or the 911 for a 2002. |

if it was mine, i'd add those box-flares and get some real serious tires under there, but that's just me ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) Andy |
