Hi all, working on the vacuumhoses check to see what needs to be replaced.
Most are not real Vacuumhose to start with, so I should replace them anyway. I have a question about a part in the vacuumhoses spaghetti It is a 1.7 1973 Question is about the marked splitter: to give you an idea where it is located: This part looks homemade to me and I am not sure if it should be there. If I check on http://www.pelicanparts.com/914/technical_...4_17FI_diag.htm I do not see any hose split in two or three...... Question : what should be there ? Thanks for your help. |

Here is the same drawing as your link. You should print it and start following the hoses. It is tuff to tell by your picture, but does the hose go to the vacuum can on the disty? Take the air filter off so you can see a bit better. |

My car is just like that. Spent a while looking for that part, but never had any luck. I'm currently rocking the "home made" version as well. I've never been clear when or why this was done, as it doesn't seem to match other 1973 vacuum routing I've seen.
My car is a bit of a bastard with a non-original engine, so I can't comment on the originality. Gary |

Here in the US, our auto parts stores have a section call "HELP!". It is the brand too. They have lots of little connectors, etc....they work great, as long as you don't need OEM. http://www.finddormanhelp.com/Home/Underhood |

Note that 022133083D is NOT what you want. Wrong size. I see several people are advertising they have the 022133083, but I don't believe they have stock. I tried to order one from Bus Depot last year, and it sat on back order for 6 months before I cancelled the order. I may tweak them again to see if they found a source.
I noticed AA is advertising they are waiting for a new vendor to tool up. Pelicanparts also shows it in the catalog, but the price listed is blank, and I don't believe they can really get it. Sounds like another opportunity for Mike @ 914rubber. Gary |

I can confirm that 022133083D is incorrect -- I have two of them down in the garage, with no idea what to actually do with them since they won't work.
I've been asking Mark at 914Rubber to make some for a while, but it's fallen kinda low on his priority list. |

Ok..VCP (VW Classic Parts) has a reseller here in Holland, so I ordered it with them to get the part fast.
I got a confirmation mail that it can take 2-3 weeks to deliver it, wow....I did not expect that, I would have received it faster in the mail if bought from USA@Johnhora (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) We will see what will arrive...... |

Ok, some parts arrived including the elbow that we spoke about in this topic.
unpack It looks like the correct one ! So...I will replace the homemade part by the original elbow again. Thanks JohnHora for the details and offering the part from USA, and thanks 914fahrer for the tip to a vendor/part closer to me and my car, thanks stinkindiesel/BillC for the remark on what not to order. malcolm2 his tip (help-section link) was not suitable for me in Europe, but thanks for thinking with me. |
