I found this: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/lofiversion/i...hp?t117581.html
I truly think this is the cost effective way ok a stronger 5 lug without 911 or 914-6 parts
second opinion?

944 hubs will not work. Different splines. Basic 924/944 rear suspension was stolen from the VW Beetle UNTIL the Turbo 944 came along. You can use the Boxster hub BUT you will have to change out the 914 bearing plate to a flat one. Then you can use late 944 stub axle and CVS. The next problem is Boxter rotor is vented and you will need some sort of spacing to make a spaced 914 caliper work or use a 911 rear with some sort of adaptation.

when you say hub is the wrong splines what's wrong with using the 944 hub?

911 hubs, stubs and cv's aren't really that expensive (in the big picture). It makes it easier to do a conversion when your using standard parts that don't need machining or crazy part selection. You don't need this setup just to go 5 lug but if your going to put any power behind it, the bigger 911 cv's make sense. Refer back to Eric Shea's 5 lug tutorial for more info.

I gave up on the 944 hub and just got a 911 hub from Eric here: www.pmbperformance.com/

In the end it was not that much more money and a better fit.

Just swapped that 5MM spacer from the stub axle side to the hub side, and still ran the 944 stub axle. I just kept the factory brakes with re-drilled stock 914-4 rotors.

In order: coarse spline 915 trans output shaft > 944 CV>machined 914 axle>944 CV>944 Stub axle>911 hub with 5mm spacer.

If money is not really an issue, buy adapter blocks and run full Boxster brakes with a 911 e-brake.
