I'm cruisin' down the freeway the other day, and once I exit and drive about half a mile on the surface streets, my oil temp hits about 240 degrees. Regular driving around town will get it up to around 230. Ambient temps right now are at or above 110. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/devil.gif) It only feels like hell... Should I be thinking seriously about an external cooler? |

yes. frequent oil changes will help until you do so. check and see if your cylinders and oil cooler are free from obstruction.

Yep, Mobil 1 15W-50 changed every 3K, and the cooler and fins are definitely clean. Time to bite the bullet and do the front cooler bit. Thanks!

240 is excessive. 200-210 is acceptable.

External oil cooler, The only way to go. Oklahoma summers can be brutal! Brought my temp down 25 deg. Even with factory A.C. Mounted passenger side, above rear axle.
